Entrance: We first see Rei in the end of the first volume of Sailor V, but her real entrance is in act three of BSSM. We see her as the beautiful, mysterious shrine keeper in the Hikawa Jinja. Usagi is amazed by this girl, with her sophistiction. However, the Dark Kingdom has a plan up its sleeve. They use the bus coming from the temple to send them to this limbo and steal all their energy! Parents come up to "the psychic girl", thinking their kids' disappearances are her fault. She's pretty upset, as you'd be...

However, Usagi has to findout what's going on, right? So she uses her Moon Pen to turn herself into a stewardess (dont ask!) and jumps on the bus! But Rei has also been taken away on the bus, and Kamen isn't their to help! Moon is scared, but when Mars gets up in the limbo, she's awfully mad...and suddenly, she wears a short skirt with a sailor bib on her leotard top! She can't believe her eyes!

From the star of fire, I am the soldier of combat, Sailormars!

She uses a Shinto attack, "Akuryo TAISAN!", and it kills the monster! Rei is in shock, but seems to apreciate her role as a sailor senshi. Of course, she has a very busy schedule, and at first hopes that this fighting thing won't take up too much of her time...

Spiritual Flame: Rei is the only senshi to be able to use her power outside being a senshi, as her "Akyryo Taisan!" attack comes from being a priestess, not a senshi...in the first "season", she, along with the others, tries to defeat the Queen Metalia, and of course they succeed. In the second season, Mars is the first inner senshi to get taken by the Black Moon, as she is defeated by Cooan, an Ayakashi Sister. However, all are resurrected when Pluto interferes...in season three, her role is small, like the other inner senshi's, as the outers come in and take over the scene.

Henshin and attacks: "Mars Power make up!" - first Mars henshin
"Mars Star Power make up!" - second henshin into Mars
"Mars Planet Power make up!" - third henshin, was taken out of the anime
"Mars Crystal Power make up!" - turns her into Super, and eventually, Sailorstarmars

"Burning Mandala!"
"Mars Snake Fire!"
"Mars Flame Sniper!"

Personality: Rei is very serious and dedicated to anything she puts her mind to, from being a senshi to being a priestess. She is very spiritual in nature. Her personality is fierce, and she's pretty testy. In the beginning, she critisizes Usagi a lot for not being a good leader, though less severe in the anime. In the end, however, they become the best of friends =). Mars as a senshi is powerful, controlling the most primal of elements, fire. She's a very interesting character IMHO.

The rest of the story: Sailormars helps the others fight Ziroconia and Neherenia, and in the meantime, Mars discovers the hidden powers within her (Flame Sniper) like the other inner senshi. She plays the same basic role as the other inner senshi at this point.

During the Galaxia part, she and Mercury are killed off by one of her Animamates (I think it is Lead Crow, but I'm not sure). More and more senshi die, until evenutally only Eternal Sailormoon and SailorChibiChibi (Cosmos) are left. Mercury, along with the others, are revived at the end with hel from Sailorcosmos, and they are all sent back home. We last see her at Usagi and Mamoru's wedding!

To sum it up: Mars is a very interesting character, one with spiritual qualities and skills that are admirable. Her relationship with Usagi, like the anime, adds a new dimension to the manga that just works. Though she can be testy, she is caring and true to herself, something anyone can admire ^_^.
