Entrance: Hotaru is introduced at the end of volume 7. Chibiusa's new hat flies away in the wind, and Hotaru catches it. However, she seems to be very weak, and a strange youma comes out of her! This is when the mysterious senshi (later revealed as Neptune and Uranus) appear. Before introducting herself, she sees a cut on Chibiusa's arm, and using a strange power, she heals it! Chibiusa is very grateful, and they become friends.

When she gets home, she is very weak, and her father's maid Kaori scolds her, but she just runs away. Her father, the evil Professor Tomoe, gives her a strange crystal. But it begins to grow...

As the Witches 9 attack the Sailor Team, and as the outers are introduced, the nature of Saturn is revealed. She is summoned to destroy worlds, and is only brought together when needed by the three talismans. And she is revealed to be - Hotaru! They say that she must be killed, which Serenity strongly objects to.

Meanwhile, Tomoe has influenced his daughter to become evil. When Chibiusa comes over to say hi, she sees the mechanical parts of her body (she was killed in a lab accident, and was "repaired" to be saved by Tomoe), and Hotaru is very sad...but the evil overcomes her, and in a rage, her hair grows out, and she beocmes the evil Mistress 9! As a minyon of Pharaoh 90, she eats Chibiusa's heart crystal!

But the spirit of Hotaru still lives! She comes out from Mistress 9, and returns Chibiusa's crystal. Unfortunately, the talismans glow, and a figure stands, holding a glaive...Sailorsaturn!

From the star of earth, I am the soldier of death and rebirth, Sailorsaturn!

Silence Glaive: Saturn holds the deadly Silence Glaive, a polearm twice as big as she. She explains to everyone that she must destroy the world to cleanse it, make it whole again. Moon begs her to stop, but to no avail. Saturn tells Pluto to send her and the destruction through time, to end the chaos, and she crys but agrees. Holding up the Glaive, she cries, "DEATH REBORN REVOLUTION!" and the world begins to crumble. Pluto sends the desturction through time, and Moon heals the devastated world. Hotaru is reborn as a baby, whom the outers take care of.

Henshin and attacks:
"Saturn Crystal Power make up!" - only henshin given, as she didn't transform to begin with, just appear

Personality: Hotaru has been misunderstood her whole life, from her strange powers to her robotic parts. She is really a sad figure, but is very nice when you get to know her. Chibiusa is her best friend, despite the age difference. Hotaru is shown to be very smart, able to read hard books and play violin at age 8. She is not shy, but isn't exactly open about her past, which is understandable.

The rest of the story: She reappears as an 8 year old in volume 14, growing more by the minute. One day, in the tub, a igure comes to her and tells her that she is her guardian: Sailorsaturn! The symbol appears on her forehead, and she grows to her regular size, that she was before. She upgrades all the outer's powers and transforms herself, then helps fight Ziroconia, as well as turn the AQ into senshi.

During the Galaxia part, she is killed off while in her castle. More and more senshi die, until evenutally only Eternal Sailormoon and SailorChibiChibi (Cosmos) are left. Mercury, along with the others, are revived at the end with hel from Sailorcosmos, and they are all sent back home. We last see her at Usagi and Mamoru wedding!

To sum it up: Saturn is a very cool character, with a troubled past but a bright future. Her powers reside deep within herself, adding to her value. And her powers are extrordinary, so Hotaru is one of my favs!
