Secret Admirer
by Minako

Ranma 1/2 belongs to Rumiko Takahashi. I'm kinda using it without
permission, but since I'm not making any cash off it, I'll hope she
doesn't mind. ^_^

				-------

It was Valentines Day. Ryouga HATED this day with a passion. It
was the day when the world rubbed in the fact that he had no chance
whatsoever with Akane. So far, lucky for him, it was just like any
other day. He was in the middle of nowhere. Or actually, he was in the
middle of somewhere, he just didn't know where.

"PIGTAILED GIRL!!! Date with me on this glorious day of LOVE!!"
Ryouga sweatdropped. That was definately Kunou confessing his undying
love to Ranma. Which moved him from the middle of some unnamed place to
the middle of Nerima. He sighed. This was one day he did NOT want to be
in Nerima. He sighed. 'Oh well, may as well spar with Ranma while I'm
here...' he thought to himself. Hopping into a nearby tree, he
waited for the perfect time to strike. 'NOW!' He tossed a bandanna in
Ranma's general direction, and took a deep breath.

"RANMA!! PREPARE TO DIE!!" He yelled. It hurt his throat, but
he HAD to do it, it was tradition between the two. He had to announce
he was going to kill Ranma at the beginning of a fight or it was...
wrong.... The fight didn't last long. Ryouga had known it wouldn't, it
was before school after all, their fights never lasted too long in the
mornings anymore. Sitting down under a particularily nice tree, Ryouga
fell asleep, figuring that though it was Valentines day, he should
probably stick around to say 'hi' to Akane at the very least...

				-------

Ranma yawned. Classes were boring. They were ALWAYS boring.
Except for maybe gym, but that class was too easy. For once he was glad
classes were long. Kasumi had insisted Akane make his lunch because it
was Valentines Day, or something stupid like that. He sighed and glared
down at his math work. 'Oh yeah, THIS makes sense.' he thought to
himself. He looked out the window near his desk, and squinted at the
figure sitting under one of the trees. Recognizing him, he returned to
his math. Suddenly, Ranma couldn't wait until lunch, despite Akane's
'special' meal.

				-------

Akane glared at the wall, trying hard not to cry. 'I don't care
what that JERK thinks of my cooking, I don't care that he ran out, I
don't.' Though she repeated that to herself over and over, it didn't
seem to gain any truth... She glanced out the window and watched Ranma
fighting in the schoolyard with Ryouga. A small crowd had gathered
around them to watch the fight. Akane sighed. 'Stupid jerk, can't you
care, even a little?'

				-------

Ryouga's heart wasn't in the fight. There were two things he
tended to look foreward to. One was seeing Akane, the other was
sparring with Ranma. Today, he just wasn't into it.

"Hey man, what's wrong." Ranma landed on the ground watching
Ryouga. Landing across from Ranma, Ryouga shrugged.

"Nothin'" He didn't want to talk about it to Ranma of all
people.

"Oh Valentines gettin' to ya?" Ryouga blinked. He hadn't
expected RANMA to figure him out, or at least no that quickly. Ryouga
looked away. "Ah, pining over that uncute tomboy again." Ryouga
twitched and turned back to Ranma.

"How can you say that about her!?" Ranma blinked.

"How? It's true! Just look at her!" Ryouga glared at him.

"Maybe YOU should." He growled. Turning, he retrieved his bag,
and made his way out of Furinkan High School, leaving a very confused,
and maybe even worried Ranma behind.

	"Ryouga...."

				-------

Ranma walked down the road to the Tendou Dojo. Now not only was
Akane mad at him, but Ryouga was acting weird again. He sighed. This
was turning into a bad day very quickly. Akane being mad he could deal
with, he could usually find a way to fix that, but Ryouga was harder.
Watching the sky as he walked, he tried to figure out what to do.

Feeling cold water splash over him, he turned to look at the
old lady with the awful timing. She continued watering her sidewalk. As
uaual, she didn't even seem to notice she'd done anything to her. She
sighed, and continued walking.

"PIGTAILED GIRL!!" she sweatdropped and looked up at Kunou.

"What?" she asked, glaring. She then had a bouquet of roses
shoved in her face.

"Oh my love, though I know we cannot be together on this day
dedicated to lovers such as us, please, do take these as a token of
my..." This was the point where Ranma sent him into orbit. Three roses
floated down from the sky as Kunou flew away. Onna-Ranma stepped on
one, then something occurred to her.

"Damn..." she muttered. Walking over to the other two, she
picked them up and examined them, they were still in good condition.
Placing them carefully in her school bag, she smiled brightly. "Well,
don't havta worry about Akane anymore, but what to do about Ryouga..."
She sighed, and continued on her way.

				-------

Ryouga couldn't believe it. The one day he hadn't wanted to be
near the Tendou Dojo, or Akane, or Ranma, or Furinkan, he had managed
to find his way twice. On a regular day, it would be paradise, but
today... he frowned. 'Maybe it's a sign...' Shrugging, he walked
towards the door to the Tendou Dojo. He paused as he heard something.

"What a haul!! What a haul!!" Happousai hopped merrily through
the yard, landing on Ryouga's head, then jumping off, causing Ryouga to
stumble. He fell in the koi pond. 'Great, it figures...' he thought to
himself.

"P-CHAN!!" Akane's cry came fromt he house and she pulled him
out of the pond. "Oh, you're soaking wet!! How did you get in the pond?
Has Ranma been bullying you again?" Ryouga sighed as Akane picked him
up and hugged him to her, taking him inside so she could find a towel.

				-------

"Ranma-kun, Akane-chan, dinner!" Kasumi's call came from the
dining room, and the two came from different ends of the house. Akane
from her room, and Ranma from the Dojo. He still hadn't given her the
rose. He wasn't sure if he wanted to give her both of them or just one,
he was leaning towards one. 'I should just give it to her.' He sat down
at the table, noticing that Akane had her pet 'P-Chan' with her today.
He made a face, but didn't say anything.

"SON!" Ranma blinked and looked up at Soun.

"Um... yeah?" The man rose and walked around the table so he
could glare down at Ranma.

"You WILL take Akane out tonight." He said.

"DAD!!" Soun glanced at Akane, but then turned back to Ranma.

"It is your duty to your fiance to show her a good time
tonight, are we clear on this?" Ranma sweatdropped.

"No, I ain't takin' that uncute tomboy anywhere!!" Akane glowed
a bit from where she was sitting.

"Ranma no BAKA!!" She kicked him through the ceiling, then sat
back down at her place with P-Chan. Soun shrugged.

	 Read Genma's sign. Kasumi walked
in carrying dinner.

"Oh my, what about Ranma-kun's dinner?" She said, puzzled, but
not by his disappearance, the hole in the roof was explaination enough.

"Who cares!? He can go eat at Ucchan's or the Nekohanten for
all I care." Up on the roof, Ranma made a face. Then, he turned and
headed off to do exactly what Akane'd said, eat dinner at Ucchan's.

				-------

Ranma played with one of the roses, rolling it between his
fingers and trying to avoid the thorns. His stomach growled. Ucchan had
been mad he didn't want to take her out, and had refused to give him
anything to eat.

"OW!" He looked down at his finger where the thorn had bit into
it. Shaking his head, he replaced it in his bag, and pulled out the
other. Gathering his courage, he walked out of his room and towards
Akane's.

				-------

P-Chan looked at the math problem Akane was trying to figure
out. It wasn't anything too difficult, but she seemed to have her mind
on something else. There was a knock on her door.

"Come in." She called absently. Ryouga turned to watch Ranma
walk in the room.

"Uh, Akane?" Akane's pencil snapped in half.

"Go away Ranma." She growled. Ryouga watched Ranma wince.

"Uh ok..." he said. He pulled something out from behind him and
placed it beside her textbook. A rose. Then he left. Akane stared down
at the rose for a long moment. Then she stood up and left the room.
Ryouga sighed. He'd known this was going to be a bad day from the
start. The small pig left the room and headed towards the bathroom. He
found a closet.

				-------

Ranma smiled. At least Akane wasn't mad at him anymore. He
thought about Ryouga. As if on cue (because that's what it was...)
P-Chan nosed his way into the room. Noticing where he was, he then hung
his head and left. Following the pig out the door, Ranma caught him by
his bandanna.

"Bathroom?" He asked. The pig nodded, and Ranma carried Ryouga
to the bathroom and tossed him in the furo. Then he turned to go. Half
out the door, something occurred to him, and he turned back. "You want
your bag?"

"Uh... yeah." Ranma nodded and left. He was on his way back
with the bag when it occurred to him what he could do for Ryouga.
Smiling, he changed direction and headed upstairs.

				-------

Ryouga walked into the changing room to find his bag sitting on
the floor. Getting dressed, he placed his bag on on his shoulder, his
umbrella on his bag, and headed out. He didn't know where. Wherever the
road took him. This road happened to take him into a forest. After
walking for a long while, he stopped and set up camp in a clearing.

After he had set up, and had started a fire, he reached into
his bag to find something to eat.

"OW!" He yanked his hand back out and looked at his now cut
finger. "The hell?" Leaning over, he looked into the bag and pulled out
the offending object. He blinked in disbelief. It was a red rose, like
the kind Kunou gave out, with a small note attatched to it. Pulling off
the note, he read it silently to himself.

			 "Happy Valentines Day
				 Ryouga!!
			Love, Your Secret Admirer."
