Marsupials

Marsupials are mammals that carry their developing young in a marsupium, or abdominal pouch. Kangaroos, wallabies, koalas, possums, and wombats are some examples. They are mammals that are restricted to Australia. In all other parts of the world, lanscapes are dominated by placental mammals, such as monkeys, gazelles, horses and so on, which norish their offspring in the womb.

Monotremes

Monotremes are egg-laying mammals. Egg-laying mammals? Are there such creatures in this world? We all learnt that mammals are charactrized by mammalry glands and only birds, amphibians and reptiles lay eggs!! Well indeed there are such animals. Platypus, a duck-like creature is one. It is another animal unique to Australia.
