Parasailing

Let's see, I almost forgot that I have even done this until a very good friend asked me about this. Yes, I have done parasailing before but it was in 1986, yes, I kid you not. I really did it when I was just a kid of 14 years old. Well, it was fun at that time, and I'm sure gonna do it again just to relive the memories. In case you're wondering what parasailing is all about, let me explain. The person is strapped to a parachute via a jacket, and this is attached to a boat. As the boat moves, the entire parachute goes up and depending on the length of the rope, you can go as high as you want.

Well, my experience with this sport happened during a holiday with my parents in Thailand, and I remembered that we were on a beach that my mom asked if I would like to do it. There were like 4-5 persons waiting in the queue, and in no time it was time to attach myself to the parachute, or parasail, or whatever you call it.

Frankly it was quite difficult to get into the jacket, but the guide was pretty experienced and he just guided my hand and put it on for me. Then the instructions were given, i.e. to pull at the rope when you are approaching and to vary the force somewhat so that you could land safely. In other words just pull the rope and you get down. Then they counted 1, 2, 3 and we're off. I had to take a few steps on the beach before the parasail starts to take off, and it was a great feeling to fly. The best was when I was up there in the sky, like almost 100 feet up with my feet hanging there. The boat was actually going in a U-shaped loop fom the beach and so, in no time, I had to reluctantly land on the beach again. It's pretty cool and as what the guide had said, I needed to pull and the parasail should come down. In fact, I landed perfectly on the beach near to where I originally had took off. Pretty good, eh?

Well, I've not done this for quite some time now. Maybe I should consider doing it again the next time I go to a beach and they have such a thing. It's great!
