Category - Victorian era horror / English horror film
Director - Ken Russell
Stars - Amanda Donohoe, Hugh Grant, Catherine Oxenberg, Peter Capaldi, Sammi Davis
(Not the singer)

Reason for being made - Its just cool. Get it and watch it!

Rating - a few bits of Feel-A-Rama, other then that it's pretty much Teen.
Scale Rating -  10

Plot - A young Scottish archeologist (Angus Flint) is digging in a yard, when he discovers a weird animal skull. Turns out there use to be a nunnery on the same spot long ago. Next thing you know there’s a party at Lord James s' castle, where this band of authentic English musicians play a cool song and these people dance about wearing a huge dragon costume (Foreshadowing...nah). Every thing seems fine, right....RIGHT! Then Lady Sylvia Marsh shows up. This is when the movie gets good. (Lady Sylvia Marsh is played by Amanda Donohoe, she really goes above and beyond in this role!!!). Then there’s mention of the house were Lady Marsh lives, and about how people disappeared around there. Well, things go from good to bad rather quickly. Needless to say Lady Marsh runs amok and generally enjoys terrorizing the local town.
The rest of the movie is a hoot, and very enjoyable. There are a few nude and suggestive bits, but after all , we are all
adults (and if your not go rent  Swords of the space ark ). So it turns out this story was written (or at least the idea came from) Bram Stoker and personally I enjoyed this more then any Dracula film I've ever seen. In true Victorian style, there is
mentioning and use of a Virgin (and try finding one of those in England!). But the up to date feel (well1988) of this movie more then covers up any factual flaws.

  Hey...it's that guy!

Points of Interest - The game of snakes and ladders, in America we have chutes and ladders.  Also keep and ear out for the
cool music, specially the snake charming stuff. Keep an eye on Amanda Donohoe, she does a grade A job in this role, and
seems to really enjoy it.
Lady Syliva Marsh has the tools for the job?

The Fearless Vampire Hunters
The Mummy (the English one, not the American one)
