Tenshi Ka Akuma Ka
by Ochi Chifumi

Despite inclinations toward truancy and general troublemaking, Sasaki Kiichi [nicknamed "Tenshi-sama"] is the darling of the boys' high school he attends... and it's not just his fellow students who appreciate him. However aggravating he may be in class and out of it, this diabolical angel has snuck his way into teacher Nitta Motoharu's heart. The plot, such as it is, follows the comic ups and downs of their romance as they strive to hide their relationship from the rest of the world. If you like your yaoi shameless but cute, this series dishes it out. And I do mean CUTE. It's the sugar factor that sucked me in, along with Kiichi's entirely [heh heh--just ask Nitta-sensei] irresistable charm.

In Vol. 1, you learn how it all started, and the main question is whether Kiichi will succeed in driving Nitta to distraction in one way or another. Volume 2 features interference in the form of Nitta's nephew, Shingo, who is slightly older than Kiichi and has a serious uncle complex. ^_^; Volume 3 [my favorite] is about summer vacation, and ends with Nitta in the hospital. [Have no fear. There's no real trauma involved.] In Vol. 4, Shingo and his relationships take center stage, although Nitta and Kiichi still appear in bit parts. The first two volumes also contain other short shounen ai and yaoi stories which are entirely separate from the "Tenshi" continuum. These vary in explicitness, as does "Tenshi" itself, from kissie-kissie to R-rated and, um, worse. ^^; Volumes 3 and 4 are all-Tenshi, all the time.

I'm unduly fond of both Kiichi and his sensei, and the interaction between them never fails to amuse. The transgressive aspect of the student/teacher thing is a nice little kink, since Kiichi is old enough that it's not too objectionable. *sweatdrop* [Well, in comparison with Rika and Terada-sensei of CCS fame... *runs screaming*] And Nitta's big dorky glasses are so endearing. ^o^

Final warning: if you can't stand warm fuzziness, stay FAR away from this!

I'll try to scan a few pictures soon, to give a taste of the drawing. I'm also translating a short episode from the end of Vol. 1, which should give you an idea of what most of the story's like.
