Adam was first encountered in Antarctica. A debate surrounds him as to whether or not he is the first angel or the first human being. The Evangelions were created out of Adam using his DNA thrugh cloning it (save Unit-01) SEELE tried to shrink him to pupa size in an attempt to clone him like his wife Lillith, who they had captured previously. They succeeded; however, Adam exploded, releasing a gigantic amount of energy which gave birth to his nickname, the Giant of Light. Adam is brought to NERV Branch 1 in Tokyo when Ryoji Kaji fled from the sixth angel. The EVA-05 series are clones of Adam. The angels seek to reunite with Adam.

Lillith

Evangelion Unit-01 is a clone of Lillith, the second angel. Lillith referred to as the mother of all life. In fact, the Geofront is Lillith's egg (EOE) SEELE obtained Lillith before the second impact. It is unknown how they accomplished it, but they conducted cloning experiments on her to develop the Project E technology. She is the angel crucified on the cross in Central Dogma and her blood is the LCL. Lillith eventually breaks her bonds and merges with Rei Ayanami to induct the third impact.

Satchiel

NERV's first encounter with the angels was against Satchiel. After the UN forces best attempts were thwarted effortlessly by the angel, an N-2 mine was dropped on it; however, all the bomb was able to succeed in doing was force the third angle to regenerate. EVA-01 was sent in to destroy Satchiel, but untrained pilot Shinji Ikari was not prepared for him. Satchiel started to thrash the EVA and proceeded to tear it apart. The EVA went silent. But then the EVA berserked and started to tear Satchiel to shreds. Satchiel attempted to destroy Unit-01 by self-destructing on its head. NERV had won, but at what cost.

Shamusial

The fourth angel came very quietly. It had the appearance of a worm. Shinji is almost routinely sent out to destroy it with a Plasma Rifle. Low and behold, it didn't work. In fact, the angel was given a smoke screen by the EVA. Classmates Touji and Aida were watching the battle and in fact got caught in it. Shinji's cable is cut by the fourth angel. Losing power on the hillside, Shinji grabbed the two whips that the angel used as its weapons and held them, refusing to fight and risk injuring more innocent people. Finally, Touji and Aida were allowed into the entry plug and Shinji began to plunge his progressive knife into the angel despite his depleting power supply and Misato's order to retreat. It was only defeated as Unit-01 ran out of power, piercing the core of Shamusial.

Ramiel

Ramiel looks more like a grain of salt than a fortress... nonetheless he is a a dangerous angel. Unit-01 failed to get even near it. Its AT field is amazingly strong. It begins to drill into the Geofront. An attack is planned by Misato to destroy it using the whole of Japan's energy supply and firing a Projitron Sniper Rifle at it. Rei and Unit-00 are used as a human shield while it holds a "super shield" in front of it order to protest Shinji. Shinji fires the beam at it. The first shot missed and the angel reacted, starting to melt the shield and Unit-01, but the second nailed Ramiel and destroyed the angel.

Gagiel

Gagiel attacked the UN Pacific fleet as it was transporting Unit-02 and its pilot Asuka Langely. It began to take out the pacific fleet one by one. EVA-02 was launched but when it went into the water was useless due to teh B-type equipment. Its real target was that of Adam, which Ryoji Kaji had in his possession. The angel nearly wipes out the Pacific fleet. It is only defeated when they use Unit-02 as a fishing hook and sink two battleships into its mouth... destroying its core.

Israfel

Israfel, referred to as the twins, is sliced in half by Asuka when it appears in Tokyo-3. The angel only split into two and disposed of Units 01 and 02. An N2 mine was dropped on the angel to buy time for the two pilots to train to defeat it. After being forced to live as one person, almost literally, the two pilots defeat Israfel using a synchronized attack plan base on music. This was, perhaps, the coolest attack on any of the angels and the music wasn't that bad. At the end of the assault the two begin to bicker, much to Fuyutski's dismay.

Sandalphon

The eighth angel was found inside the core of a volcano. Gendo Ikari decided it best to try to "take the offensive" for once and try to capture it. Asuka was sent down to capture the angel but the angel awakened. Asuka's progressive knife failed to harm the angel until Shinji reminded her of some biological principle of heat and expansion. Asuka uses her coolant to literally freeze the angel and killed it with a progressive knife.

Matriel

Apparently NERV didn't pay the power bill. SEELE cut off power to NERV and Tokyo-3 just as the ninth angel, Matriel, attacked. Conincidence? Not likely. Using diesel engines the EVA's were preparedo intercept only to see the spider dropped acid down and they lost the battery packs. Asuka develoepd a plan to defeat the angel using all three EVAs. The angel was killed when Shinji fired a Plasma Rifle through it, proving that this angel could have even been defeated by the JSDF.

Sahaquiel

Sahaquiel was a big orange thing in the sky. No it wasn't a first contact with alien life. It was the tenth angel, bent on dropping parts of it like a bomb till it found Tokyo-3 and was preparing to launch itself. The three EVAs were dispatched to try to intercept it and were successful at Neutralizing its AT field and killed. Afterwards, Sahaquiel looked nothing more than big deflated balloon.

Iruel

Iruel, the 11th angel, is my personal favorite. He's basically a computer virus angel that attempts to destroy the MAGI. Now I personally think it was sent by Bill Gates and that NERV was using Windows 95, but I can't prove it.. yet. In any case its combatant wasn't Mr. Norton. It was Ritsuko and Maya *lets face it, do you think Shinji's a computer wizard?!?* They successfull defeated it at the last moment. Gendo denied to SEELE that there ever was an attack.

Leliel

Leliel, looks like a black hole though alot of people say shadows. For those 99.9% of you who think that, my explanation, does your shadow suck you down into limbo (no not the thing at a Bar Mitzvah! Get a dictionary!) Shinji grew some balls and tried to fight it only to be sucked in. As the angel sucked in Tokyo-3.. which magically reappeared the next episode *BLOOPER*.... NERV planned on detonating all the world's remaining non-nuclear N2 mines. Before this could happen, Unit-01 reactivated without power, and killed the angel from within.

Bardiel

The thirteenth angel infected the brand new EVA-03 just brought to Matsushiro base for testing. The three pilots were sent to destroy the EVA. Rei and Asuka were easily defeated by the now possesed EVA, it went after Shinji. Shinji did not know who the pilot was (Misato, Asuka, and Rei knew it was Toji already) and refused to fight back in fear of hurting the pilot. Gendo ordered the activation of the dummy plug and so EVA-01 tore apart EVA-03 and crushed the entry plug.

Zuriel

Zuriel is, in my opinion, the most dangerous of all angels. It came the closest, next to Kaworu, to destroying NERV. I couldn't help myself from laughing as it kicked the living hell out of Unit-02 and then when Rei attempted to blast it with an N2 mine it blew up in its hand. The fourteenth angel breeched NERV and basically came to say "Hi" to Misato when Unit-01 came to fight. Shinji was handling himself with one arm when his power ran out. Unit-01 beserked, and the sync ratio reached 400%. Lets just say Zuriel didn't die peacefully. Unit-01, or more or less Yui Ikari, ate part of it.

Arael

Yet another angel from space. Please no more things in space. What is this, Robotech? Asuka tried to prove herself and got mentally violated by the angel as it attacked her... meanwhile we hear the Hallelujah chorus in the background. The projitron sniper rifle fails to pierce the angel's AT field due to the distance so Rei leaves it, goes to Central Dogma and takes the Spear of Loginus out of Lillith and hurls it at the angel. The angel is destroyed but the spear is lost forever. Or at least till EOE.

Armisael

The sixteenth angel attempted to control Unit-00. It basically made first contact with humankind when it contacted Rei Ayanami. Rei discovers what she is just before Shinji is dispatched. The angel attacks it but Shinji evades *nice piloting Shinj!* and Rei sees it. She expands her AT field and contains the angel within and sacrifices her life to save Shinji. The explosion destroys almost all of Tokyo-3 though oddly enough the entry plug is found in an untouched forest *HEY A BLOOPER!* This angel was perhaps the most challenging of angels next to the final angel in that it took the destruction of Unit-00 just to defeat it. This marks the precursor of the form of angel to come.

Kaworu

Kaworu, commonly referred by the Professor as the gay angel, is the fifith child and the final angel. He befriends Shinji. He was sent to replace Asuka and in fact meets Rei III and baffles her. He uses EVA-02 to delay Shinji as he descends to Terminal Dogma so he can merge with Adam. He discovers it is not Adam and in fact is Lillith. He says something about it leading to the destruction of everything. Kaworu asks Shinji to kill him, lowering his inpenetrable AT field, saying that it is not his choice to decide mankind's fate and gives Shinji that choice. After about a minute of EVA-01 holding Kaworu in its hand, it squeezes and Kaworu's head pops off. Now I don't want to sound mean, but after just waiting so long that little pop just got to me. It was out of nowhere and kinda weird.
