Adam- the first angel and human being, was sent down to Earth to warn mankind to stop their ways of defying nature in cloning Lillith. Was shrunk to pupa size, releasing a cataclismic amount of energy and melting the polar icecaps.

Angels (Shito)- more appropriately messangers of God, these beings are attempting to return to Adam. Their quest to Adam is a destructive one which has ended up trasing Tokyo-3 and killing many people. Their origin is unknown for certain though they are believed to be from Heaven.

Dummy Plug System- The experimental system developed by Ritsuko Akagi where the EVA can actually be fooled into belivieving the pilot is in control and can be taken over by the essence of the soul inhabiting it.

Entry Plug- The capsule that houses and partially protects the pilots of the Evangelion. Allows the pilot to mentally connect with the EVA.

EVAs-These All Purpose Fighting Machines are in essence human beings. In every EVA lies a human sole. Onlt those born within nine months of the second impact can pilot these great beasts which are Earth's last best hope for salvation.

First Impact-Although not specifically mentioned, we can most likely guess it was the meteor that hit the earth and destroyed the dinosaurs and signaling in the age of mankind.

Geofront-believed to be created by God, this is an underground cavern able to house Tokyo-3 in time of attack and primarily help defend NERV. It is heavily armored. It serves also for the purpose of where mankind was born out of Lillith.

Gehirn- The former name of the organization NERV while it was still in the process of developing their base in the Geofront in addition to researching the primary stages of the Evangelion project. .

JSDF- the Japanese self-defense force. They are sent out by SEELE to attack NERV in the movie.

LCL- The liquid that comes from Lillith *I believe its her blood* that allows the pilots to artificially breath it in producing oxegyn internally.

Marduk Report- The project to select the children to pilot the Evangelions. All the members of Shinji's class were fourth level candidates, explaining their convienent location in Tokyo-3 and that all their mother's are no longer alive. It cites Rei Ayanami, Asuka Langely, Shinji Ikari, Touji Suzahara, and Kaworu Nagisa as the children appointed to the position.

NERV- the top secret UN organization that has been places in charge of Project EVA and the defense of Earth. The organization was born out of the organization SEELE.

Second Impact- When scientists attempted to shrink Adam down to size and keep him at pupa form, he attempted to warn mankind to stop their ways. Adam released a massive amout of energy that melted the whole of Antarctica. Half the world's population died due to second impact.

SEELE- an even more secretive and somewhat more powerful organization which has deemed itself responsible for the trials of man to defeat the angels. They, along with the highest personnel of NERV, know the truth about second impact, the human instrumenality project, and truth behind the angels. They are headed by Keel Lorenz.

Sync Ratio- How well a pilot can control their EVA directly varies with the sync ratio, which is the mental connection a pilot has with their EVA. This varies from time to time and determines how easily the EVA can move and fight.

Terminal Dogma- In the farthest depths of NERV Headquarters, Terminal Dogma is an isolated area which house Lillith and the Spear of Loginus. Lillith is hanging upon a giant cross which stands within a pool of LCL.

Third Impact- The final stage in man's evolution into a perfect being by forming man into one sencient being.

Tokyo-3- the city/fortress which houses the weapons and accessories for the EVAs. People do live there though it gets trashed alot.
