In the year AD 2000, a huge meteoriod crashed into Antarctica. This incident was known as the "2nd Impact" and had claimed many lives. In AD 2015, humans established NERV, a United Nations agency to deal with alien entities known as Angels. NERV started with the constructions of gigantic multi-purpose humanoid fighting machines known as Evangelion and rebuilt a new Tokyo city known as Tokyo - 3 with the ability to retract back into the ground to evade raids from the Angels. The destiny of Mankind now lies on these machines and 3 brave pilots.
