Best of Tokyo's Frequently Asked Questions

Hereunder are the questions that have been asked from us in connection with the Best of Tokyo Award:

Q: What is the Best of Tokyo?
A:
The Best of Tokyo is a program designed for Tokyo Neighborhood. The purpose of this program is to highlight pages within the neighborhood as well as generate popularity of such sites to visitors coming to Tokyo.

Q: Any relation to the Best of GeoCities?
A:
The purpose is Best of Tokyo and that of Best of GeoCities are similar. The Best of Tokyo, however, does not give additional GeoPoints directly or additional disk space.

Q: Is the Best of Tokyo sanctioned by GeoCities?
A:
Yes. The Tokyo Main Page endorses the Best of Tokyo and even provided a link to this page.

Q: What do I get if my web site is listed in the Best of Tokyo?
A:
Aside from being listed in the Best of the Best of Tokyo, your site is authorized to display the Best of Tokyo's icon. Only a few are chosen to have this icon, and your site could be one of the chosen few. If your site is listed on the Best of Tokyo, then the chance of being in the Best of GeoCities is more probable, especially under the popular themes of the Tokyo Neighborhood.

Q: What are the requirements/criteria for my page to be listed in the Best of Tokyo?
A:
Please refer to the Best of Tokyo's criteria. If you follow them to the letter as well as the Page Content Requirements and Guidelines, there would be no problem for your site from being included in the Best of Tokyo.

Q: My page is already a FP, do I need to apply for the Best of Tokyo?
A:
Yes, even if your page have been a Featured Page in the past, you need to apply to be included in the Best of Tokyo program. Although the Best of Tokyo's criteria and the Featured Pages guidelines are similar, the former is an improvement of the latter.

Q: How to I become a Best of Tokyo reviewer?
A:
You have to become a Tokyo Community Leader first before you are considered for Best of Tokyo reviewer. As of the moment, homesteaders would have to wait for a program that would cater to this feature.

Q: I am a CL, should my page be listed in the Best of Tokyo?
A:
Definitely yes! Since homesteaders look up Community Leaders as experts on web design, as well as in GeoCities Page Content Guidelines and Requirements.

Q: The theme of my web site is not in the Best of Tokyo's themes, how do I get listed?
A:
First, you have to request the Best of Tokyo Steering Committee the appropriateness of your web site theme in Tokyo Neighborhood. If your theme should be included in the Best of Tokyo, the Steering Committee will add your theme and then you could apply. If the Committee, however, deemed that your web site theme is not appropriate to the Tokyo Neighborhood, you will be requested to transfer to an appropriate GeoCities Neighborhood.

Q: What do I have to do to get my web site listed in the Best of Tokyo?
A:
Make a presentable home page. Create pertinent content and design and easy-to-use pages. Also, read the Page Content Requirements and Guidelines and follow them. For help on creating a page which is a Best of Tokyo material, kindly go to Help section.

Q: Are the GeoGuide necessary to get listed in the Best of Tokyo?
A:
No. Although GeoCities GeoGuide is not a Page Content Requirement, per se, we would prefer that applicants should follow the preferred position of the GeoGuides on their pages, that is, if the homesteader pages have the GeoGuides, they should be located on top of the pages, not anywhere after the tags. This would also be beneficial in promoting your pages within, as well as outside, of GeoCities. Should you want to activate your GeoGuides, please refer to GeoCities GeoGuide Manager .
