FIRST STRIKE

CHAPTER 10: THE MASQUERADE

Well, the masquerade wasn't half-bad. Ranma-X was going to be part of some skit but, since we acted like a bunch of Ryogas and couldn't there in time, he was dropped out. He had to settle for a walk-through.

When he did his little walk-through, the host couldn't even say his real name (which was Ramon Raya). He thought it was Ramen or Ranmen or Ranmon or something like that. Because of this, the Rage proceeded to do the Naga laugh. The audience wanted Ranma-X to flash his chest. That would NOT be a pretty sight.

There were also some cute kids that participated as Sailor Scouts and Sasami. Later on, the skits were showcased. Now I don't know why hardcore anime fans would bash on the American voice-acting when they couldn't even do as good a job as the voice-actors could. At one point, one of the guys really put some feeling by saying, "I've got two words for you..., hey, wait..." An individual tried to be cool when he jumped in the stage and started "breakdancing". From what I've seen, he wasn't that good (not that I'm a breakdancer). The crowd hardly even noticed and I thought he was a bonehead for doing that. If he did something impressive, maybe it would've been all right.

We still made an impact in the crowd. In case you're wondering where that "Jerry" chant came from, it was us! We even tried to start the New Age Outlaws promo, "Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, children of all ages...," only to come out blank after that...

The winner was a staff member of the Fanimé Con by dressing up as Shorty from Bust-A-Groove fame. Now I have nothing against Shorty or the person herself but being a staff member and this being an anime convention, don't ya think something smelled funny there? Yes. Otaku...

Some of the masquerade participants. Well, I was able to take pix AFTER the masquerade...
