Chichiri is a loyal favourite among most Fushigi Yuugi fans. He's fun, kind, smart, and has much cooler ways of using his Suzaku gift than most of the other seishi. He was a traveling monk that happened upon Suzaku no Miko (Miaka) near Tamahome's village and saved her life from some of Seriyu's men that were out to kill her. He stayed for three years in training with Taiitskun before meeting up and joining Suzaku no Miko's merry band of the Suzaku Seven.
What I find most appealing about this young man (atualy he's one of the oldest seishi) is the mask he wears over his face. It's a happy mask that covers a scar over his left eye. I'd spoil the manga for a few of you if I told you how he got that scar...anyway, he also adds the cute (or annoying, if you are not a huge fan of him) phrase "no da" at the tail end of EVERY full sentence he says. I'm one of the people who thinks it's cute. However, the Pioneer translation of the show, though overall VERY well made, changed the "no da" to "you know" and that ticked some vintage fans off.
