Where the Lee family is originally from...




Fook Loy Lee came from the Fook Tien Lai area which consisted of about ten houses and is a small part of Dook Shu Bow Village. Dook Shu Bow means Single Tree Bridge and is also recognized as Oak Shu or Oak See depending on dialect and regional pronunciation. This village (Dook Shu) is only made up of Lee families. The village is in the county of Toishan (Toisan, Taishan.) Almost all of San Francisco's Chinatown is originally from this county in the Guangdong Province. Guangzhou (Canton) is the capital of this province which is on the southern coast of China.
