A database of Robbie's history

Liverpool born Robbie Fowler was born on April 9, 1975 and was brought up on the Toxeth housing Estate. As a youngster he was an ardent Everton supporter. While at Nugent secondary school he was selected for Liverpool schools'Under-14 team and was spotted by Liverpool scout Jin Aspinall. He began training with Liverpool once a week and signed schoolboy forms with the club. Two years later he signed on as a YTS trainee and he turned professional in April 1992 on his 17th birthday.

He helped the England Under-18 team to win the European championship in the summer of 1993 before making a scoring first-team debut in Liverpool's 3-1 win in a first round Coca-Cola Cup tie at Fulham in September 1993. He really started to make a name for himself when he grabbed all five goals in the second leg at Anfield two weeks later.

By so doing he became only the fourth player in Liverpool's history to score five in a senior fixture. He scored his first League hat-trick against Southampton in only his fifth League game and his first 13 games for the club yield 12 goals for which his reward was an England Under-21 debut against San Marino in November 1993. He marked this by scoring England's opener in the third minute.

Although unable to sustain his goal-a-game ratio throughout the season and despite being out for almost two months with a hairline fracture of the ankle, he nonetheless finished his first term as the "Reds" leading scorer with 18 goals in Liverpool's first three League games including the fastest-ever Premier League hat-trick in 4 minutes 32 seconds against Arsenal.

Becoming most commonly compared as a goal-poacher with Jimmy Greaves, his seemingly inexorable progress was temporality halted by his sending-off in an Under-21 international in Austria in November for which he was suspended by UEFA for four games.

He further blotted his copybook by being hit with an FA disrepute charge after an incident at Leichester on Boxing Day for which he was subsequently fined. However, he ended a season in which he was Liverpool's only ever-present with Coca-Cola Cup winners'medel after their defeat of Bolton of the Year Award. He was also comtortably the club's leading scorer again with 31 goals(25 league, 2 FA Cup, 4 Coca-Cola Cup), becoming the first Anfield player for six years to top 30 goals. He also made his first appearance for the England'B'side.

Despite being left-out of the side at the beginning of the season in favour of Rush and Collymore, however, an injury to Collymore soon gave Fowler his place back, and later acknowledged that the ploy had given him a further impetus to improve his game, as Roy Evans no doubt to intended. Boton were one of the teams that sufferered as Fowler scored four against them at Anfield, while Arsenal were on the end of another hat-trick before Christmas and Fowler scored four against Manchester United in the two League games. Unfortunately neither Fowler nor anyone else could score against the latter team in the disappointing FA Cup final in May. By the end of the season Fowler had forged a good understanding with Collymore and the combination netted 55 goals in the season, fowler scoring 36, second only to the prolific Alan Shearer.

Fowler was rewarded with a full England cap in April against Croatia. Fowler started the 96-97 season with a nagging back injury however it's still another fantastic effort by Fowler, with Stan Collymore as his partner he notched 31 goals in all competitions, he also scored his first goal for England in a friendly against Mexico.

Fowler had his fair share of press during the season, he was fined by UEFA for wearing a 'support the sacked Liverpool dockers' T-shirt under his Liverpool shirt, a T-shirt he proudly displayed when he scored a goal.

Then there was the infamous penalty affair at Highbury, David Seaman was adjudged to have brought Fowler down in the box, and Liverpool were awarded a penalty. Fowler then tried to tell the referee it was not a penalty but his strange request was rejected. Fowler stepped up took a weak penalty which Seaman saved but the rebound was drilled in by Jason McAteer.

Robbie missed the start of the 97/98 season with injury, but returned to partner teenage prodigy Michael Owen in attack. For the first time in his career Fowler seemed to be struggling with his form, and he lost his England place in February, ironically it was Michael Owen who replaced him in England's line-up. More worrying, however was when Fowler refuted claims in a Sunday newspaper that he was being blackmailed by a Merseyside gang.

Though having a bad season by his standards, Robbie still managed to score 13 goals in all competitions until he injured his knee ligaments in the 'derby' game against Everton at Anfield. And this cost him to wait another four years to represent England to play in the World Cup.

98/99 still not a very good year for Robbie. He came back from injury at October 98. However most people think that he's not as sharp as ever and there are so much troubles happened around him. Firstly, he was banned for two matches for making obscene gestures at Chelsea defender Graeme Le Saux on February 27 and also banned for four matches for pretending to snort cocaine during a goal celebration after scoring against Everton on April 3. Robbie Fowler was banned for a total of six games, and fined a record 32,000 pounds ($51,450) Liverpool, who face being without him for much of their remaining matches this season, had already fined him two weeks wages (about 64,000 pounds) for his antics against Everton, according to media reports, taking the total of a record fines of as much as 96,000 pounds.

Then his nose was broken in a fight at a hotel at the weekend, making him out of England's friendly for his nose reset other than playing in Hungary and representing England.

The only good news for Robbie in 98/99, maybe he is about to become a father. After the birth of the child, he is expected to wed and move in with the baby's mother, 23-year-old Kerrie Hannon, at his new luxury home in Blundellsands.

A friend of the striker confirmed the pregnancy to the Liverpool Echo. He said: "The couple are really delighted with the news. Robbie's really looking forward to becoming a dad. This is some very good news for him in what has otherwise been an awful season." said the friend.

The latest rumours recently of Robbie is that he is going to follow the steps of his friends Steve McManaman with a move to abroad.

However, I think most of the fans still want to see him staying at Anfield and leading the teams to success and back to the glory days of 70-80'. Let's see how he can become a successful football player both in England and in the world.
