Character Profiles

This section contains profiles of all the major good guys in the series. This page was _not_ written by me. This page is an exact duplicate of Melinda Miller's character profile sheet. There. I said it. Now no one can say that I'm taking credit for something I didn't do! I can't help it if I'm too lazy to type my own. Besides, Melinda's is a very good one if I do say so myself.

Character Profiles

* All names are in Japanese format (i.e. family name, first name). I'll put in a comma to make this slightly clearer for those who are not used to Japanese name conventions.

Urameshi, Yuusuke: He's the story's 'hero'. He's 14 years old, and more than a bit of a hood. After dying while saving a child from an oncoming car, he is offered a test to allow him to go back to living. He eventually accepts, and ends up getting recruited. He has a fearsome and well deserved reputation as a fighter, and as a consequence, most of his peers are terrified of him. Deep down he's really a nice guy, and will go to great lengths (including getting killed) to save innocents. He does not display his real power unless he is _very_ anrgy. His main weapon is the 'Rei-gun'.

Kuwabara, Kazuma: (note that everyone calls him by his last name) Kuwabara is Yuusuke's eternal rival. At the start of the series, he has been challenging Yuusuke on a daily basis for several years, and has lost every time. He is , however, greatly upset by Yuusuke's death, and the two become firm (if odd) friends after Yuusuke returns to life. On the intelligence scale he's no Einstein, but he is very stubborn and determined. He will fall for just about anything female. He possesses strong psychic powers which help at times and get him into trouble sometimes. His main weapon is his 'Rei-ken' (essentially a spirit sword).

Kurama (Minami, Shuichi): Kurama is a 'youko' (fox-spirit). He used to be a fairly famous thief until one day a hunter wounded him seriously. He fled to the human world to recover. In doing this he basically got himself reincarnated as a human child (Minami, Shuichi), though he can still use some of his youko powers. Later in the series this changes (as does his form, occasionally...). As a human he has a mother who he is very attached to, and is willing to go to great lengths to insure her happiness. He met up with Yuusuke when he and 2 companions stole some valuables from the spirit world. Kurama has a fairly kind, gentle nature, but this vanishes when he gets annoyed or threatened. His most commonly used weapon is the 'Rose Whip' though he also uses a variety of plants in entertaining ways (he's great at turning his opponents into attractive flora!).

Hiei: Hiei first meets up with Yuusuke at the same time as Kurama. He is arrogant and frequently overconfident, though neither is completely unmerited. Though he would never admit it, he is good friends with Kurama, and appears to actually like Yuusuke somewhat. This does not mean that he will necessarily help Yuusuke when he gets into trouble. He has a sister, Yukina, who he has been searching for for a while, though she does not know that he is her brother. Hiei is *really* fast, and usually slices things to pieces with his sword. He does, however, possess a 'Jagan' - an evil eye, essentially- that allows him to control some demons, and weaker humans. He is almost always cool and unflappable, and comes across as being very mercenary. Despite this, he will defend his friends when necessary, and rarely kills anything unnecessarily.
