Drake was one of the two Smartgunners in the outfit. Being a smartgunner he used an M56 Smartgun. When the marines were ordered to give up their magazines to apone so they won't fire under the reactors, Vasquez and Drake gave up their battery packs and still had two extras. When the aliens attacked they provided cover which was crucial for the marines to escape. When they were about to get into the apc, drake ran out of ammo on his smart gun and threw the harness off of his chest and started using a flamethrower to torch the aliens following. Hicks and Vasquez pleaded with him to come along "Drake!! We are leaving!" But Drake kept firing. But Drake did not see an alien to his right. Vasquez's smartgun did and fired on it. This splashed acid on Drake killing him. His flamethrower, still active, shot fire into the apc. Then they shut the door and put it out and made their escape.
