Perez was the captain and general on the Auriga. He allowed the aliens experimentation and paid Elgyn for the hijacked hosts. When the aliens broke free, he helped evacuate most of the soildiers. When one of the escape pods had an alien on it, he rolled a grenade in it and detonated it at a safe distance to kill the alien. After that he gave off a millitary salute and then was bit in the back of the head by an alien. Killing him.
