Vriess was the comic releif of alien ressurection. He would make funny comments to Johner. Johner said to Call after they discovered she was an android, "Hey Vriess, you got a socket wrench. Maybe she just needs an oil change. Can't beleive I almost f*cked it!" "Yea like you never f*cked a robot!" He is paralyzed from the waste down and has a special wheelchair that contains a break-down-able shotgun he used against the aliens. When they escaped the Auriga to the Betty, Elgyn and Hillard were dead and Vriess had to fly the Betty along with Johner. Neither of them knew what they were doing, but luckily he survived ressurection.
