Vice President and Director of Accounting

·        Responsible for financial statements, quarterly reviews, financial audits, tax preparation, and implementation of accounting standards for this Company with 1,200 employees and annual revenues of  $120 million.

·        Developed a monthly financial package that is distributed externally to assist in keeping investors and lenders up to date with the Company’s financial status.

·        Provided regular insight into the Company’s operations, the risks and opportunities facing the business, cash flow, liquidity, profitability, and leverage to the Company’s investors and lenders.

·        Developed financial forecasting models for use in strategic and monthly financial analysis, including Target Pricing and Activity Based Costing analysis.  Helped increase gross revenue per unit by over 20% while reducing net cost per unit by over 10%. Assisted in turning Company from a quarterly loss of $7 million in 1st quarter to marginally profitable operations in the 4th quarter of 2000.

·        Produced monthly departmental profit and loss statements with performance data, utilizing Cognos database software, for over 100 departments located throughout the United States.

·        Completed the 10-K filing and three 10-Q filings for AMC Financial, Inc.

·        Renegotiated 2 separate service contracts that resulted in annual savings in excess of $1 million.

Empire Funding Corp., Austin, Texas

Corporate Controller/ Sr. Operations Manager

·        Managed financial operations during rapid growth from 350 employees and a $50 million annual run rate to 950 employees with a $200 million annual run rate in a 12-month time frame.

·        Managed the development of the Form S-1 Registration Statement and the Private Offering Memorandum for Empire Funding Corp.

·        Successfully worked with and managed the Investment Banking firms, Accounting Firms, and Law Firms that were participating in the process.

·        Assisted in the evaluation of various financing structures, including asset securitizations, bond financing, term debt, warehouse lines, subordinated debt, and private and public equity.  Worked with lenders and attorneys to establish terms of related financing agreements to maximize the terms to the benefit of the Company.  Raised in excess of $3 billion in permanent bond financing,  $1 billion in working capital capacity, and over $100 million in subordinated debt.

·        Routinely provided investors with Company performance information.

·        Key business advisor to executive and senior management, including financial forecasting, product profitability, cost accounting and analysis, tax analysis and strategies, and due diligence on new business opportunities.

·        Member of the Executive committee, Risk Management committee, co-chaired the Operations committee, and chaired the Default Recovery committee of the Company.

·        Managed an accounting department of 33 employees and a default recovery department of 16 employees (department established from scratch within 3 months). Developed financial package utilized by BOD, executive management, investors, lenders, and other external users.

·        Responsible for weekly, monthly, and annual cash flow analysis.

·        Provided financial analysis and asset valuation for the potential acquisition of various businesses.

·        Participated on senior management team on the acquisition and assimilation of four separate businesses.

·        Managed financial audits, tax filings, and tax examinations. 

·        Successfully completed an IRS examination with minor adjustments.

·        Eliminated bank service charges and implemented cash management strategies that earned substantial income (over $1,000,000) from float (over $50 million of float in Trust accounts) in Bank accounts.

·        Managed restructuring and negotiation of office leases, copier and printer leases, and other service and product contracts saving over $5,000,000.

·        Established and managed a default recovery group charged with management of in excess of $150 million in liquidated loans from securitizations.  This group substantially exceeded its recovery goals. 

·        Increased average monthly cash collections of liquidated loans from $262,500 in the 1st quarter to $1,500,000 in the 4th quarter of 2000, a 571% increase.

·        Initiated and completed over $100 million in defaulted loan sales to third parties generating in excess of $6 million in operating funds to EFC.

·        Prepared annual budgets for 25 separate departments.  Provided performance measurements and monthly feedback to department managers.

·        Chaired team that implemented customer statements for 80,000 customers, replacing coupons.

·        Project Manager in the Business Processes and Systems group responsible for implementation of lean manufacturing at Applied’s Austin manufacturing site.

·        Project Manager of a 7-member core and 40 member extended team that implemented the restructuring of the 5 financial departments into one centralized department.  Project provided positive results including substantial productivity improvements, increasing value-added time to in excess of 50% of department’s time from less than 30% previously.

·        Assisted in the implementation of an activity based costing system.

·        Lead project to conduct a site wide materials inventory and valuation.
