WHITEHOUSE EAST
Work on the Rose Garden, MINH_TÂM's garden in Go Cong started in 1999 and he has been assisted by several Vietnamese friends including Minh Dinh, art teacher at THPT-Truong Dinh High School in Go Cong, who crafted a statue for the Rose Garden/PHOTO. He also has been assisted by Minh Chau, BaSi Bong (Doctor of Flowers), who provided many of the plants and plant names, including the GUZMANIA-Tillabdsia Cyanea pictured above. It was first introduced to Vietnam in 1994 by a gift from Ron Callison, Director ofTreeborne Garden in the USA, to the Chief of Ho Chi Minh City/Saigon.
The Whitehouse East Rose Garden does not have many of the flowers and history of the Rose Garden in Washington DC. However, Many of the Tropical Fruit/Plants
are not found in the Washington D.C. Rose Garden like Orchids (OCHIDACEAE Cymbidium & Spathoglottia) and
Flowering Bananas (MUSA Heliconia rostrata).
MINH_TÂM lives in Go Cong, Tien Giang Province, Vietnam and he travels around the city by Cyclo (Pedicab). He has a regular routine each day that includes working on the internet at
NgocHuy and having beef soup (Pho) at XuanThanh, his favorite restaurant in Go Cong; see MAP and photos by: MINH_TÂM | Minh Chau.
