1978 Lada Niva Restoration

Shipping my car to Colorado...

The whole idea behind fixing up this 1978 Lada Niva ,was to be able to ship it to the United States. Since these cars were never imported in the US ,I would not be able to ship a new one or a younger than 25 year old one. Or it had to be able to meet the strikt US crash test and emission regulations. If your car is older than 25 years ,you are exempt for these regulations and have to meet emissions from 1978. Now that it finally is 25 years ,and I have the funds for it ,it is getting shipped this month (september 2003). The shipper will be ablecargo.com ,they were referred to me from someone else who shipped a lada from Europe. It will leave Belgium in Zeebrugge , and it will arrive about 2 weeks later in Galviston Texas .From there it will be transported by truck to Colorado Springs CO, where I live. Now November 2003 I'm driving around Colorado in my Niva. It took about a month to get the car here, lots of delays and so, but it got here in one piece without a scratch, thanks K-Line ! I also want to thank Ablecargo.com for what they did for me and my car ,and want to refer them to everyone that wants a car shipped from Europe . I will post more pictures as I do more trips in beautifull Colorado .
