Here is the follow up to Gelbison’s phenomenal self-titled EP; it is also the first preview of their forthcoming debut album. This single sees Gelbison go in a completely different and unexpected direction to their previous EP.
Where there was previously hazy chilled out textures there are now blasts of distortion. The single, ‘Metal Detector’ sounds something like a heavier version of the Stone Roses. Following this the lads then take off in another new and unexpected direction with ‘Heart Attack Fire’. This track starts off with an acoustic guitar and deep whispered vocals before suddenly blasting out into something that defies description. The music becomes even weirder with ‘Gnome or Frog Rock’ which has a Syd Barrett/Beatles style, only heavier. The single closes with a curious 15-minute epic in “Fate (part one)”.
This is an equally amazing effort as their previous CD. Not only have they put forward four strong tracks that further demonstrate their amazing talent but they have also shown how broad their sound can be. What their forthcoming album will be like, one cannot even guess!
