Ben Lee - Hey You Yes You

Ben Lee has come out with a fairly strong record that consists 12 solid tracks. In the first half of the album Ben Lee doesn’t really take any major leaps with his music. The first few tracks pretty much possess the same pop-rock elements that Mr. Lee has employed over his career. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing and if you’re a fan of Ben Lee you will probably like this album as much as the rest of his stuff. The one exception to this is the single ‘Something borrowed something blue.’

The album does get stronger towards the second half. ‘No need to bleed’ is one interesting highlight in which Ben plays a piano with a drum machine in the background. Towards the end Ben goes acoustic with the tracks ‘Shine’ and ‘in the morning’ both of which are rather nice tracks. The album then closes with the darkish and beautiful ‘still on the line’

Overall this is a fairly good record. If you like what Ben Lee’s done before then you’ll probably like this album, if you didn’t like his previous work then you probably wont like it.
