News From the Simian-
Development News Update

During th past weeks, there has been a lot of new construction around The Forest Behind Nacac. The right side of the field next to GPT (when viewed from Mid World Trail) has been leveled to prepare for construction. It seems like there’s be homes within 150 feet from Mid-World Trail. With homes of expensive people that close, we’ll be hard pressed to continue to use the forest without drawing unwanted attention from these intruders.

Trains & Lanes
Excellent news for those who like good news! Trains and Lanes, located on Northwood Avenue in Easton, now sells a variety of paintball products. This includes CO2, for which their prices are $3 for a 9 oz, $4 for a 12 oz, and $5 for a 20 oz, that’s $1 less for a 20oz than Army Navy!
In addition to CO2, there are markers and other accessories available at T&L. Their prices are cheaper than Army & Navy at Allentown, and they have a wider selection of accessories, though not as many guns are available. Hopefully, by supporting this new paintball vendor, their inventory will enlarge to rival even Global, at a cheaper price and shorter trip!

Ask Tom D Wilco, Paintball Ph. D.

Q. What’s a drop forward and where is it on a gun?
A. A drop forward goes on the bottom of a gun’s grip.  It balances your gun by placing the CO2 towards the middle of the gun. They are also available to hold Nitrogen tanks, and are then called “cradles”.  Drop forwards come in many shapes and sizes ranging from sharks to lightening bolts.
Q. Should I buy this bottomline / regulator / expansion chamber kit for my Spyder? It costs $100
A. It would probably be cheaper to get just a bottomline and expansion chamber. This is almost just as good for around here. CO2 fluctuation is most prevalent in cold climates so having an expansion chamber AND regulator is overkill unless you live somewhere where it’s cold all the time. The expansion chamber is also good for a foregrip and should be able to handle most CO2 fluctuations. Therefore, a regulator isn’t really necessary unless you use Nitrogen CO2.

Biography to the Extreme-Chris Rice
AKA Simian

Chris Rice is a legendary player who revolutionized the way we play paintball. He sports a Brass Eagle Raptor with a 32 Degrees Terminator Barrel and has a Brass Eagle mask made by JT. Interestingly enough, this is nearly identical to the kit used by David No.
Chris was and is the best paintballer to ever play beneath the leaves of The Dark Forest. When you played beside Chris, it was as if he projected a paintball aura. You became a better player and would often make amazing moves that were previously unattainable.
The benefit of this aura came at a price, however. As those who were on his team will tell you, Chris would often exhort players to take point especially when the enemy was up the path.
On one occasion Nelson said that he sensed the enemy ahead. Chris told him to move up and attack first. Nelson refused saying that it would be wise to attack from another angle. Chris decided on a frontal assault and was forced to lead it himself. After he went up the trail a bit, he was shot by an enemy. When he got back to the preparation area, he became furious at Nelson. He said that his refusal to take point had caused his elimination.
Chris Rice shaped the way we play paintball at The Dark Forest, for better or worse. Chris shunned ambushes since he began playing, but especially after he was taken out by an ambush set by Dave Salazar, Nelson Fonseca, Mike Whildin and Kris Linton. He would often jeer Barry for hiding in bushes and not moving. He enjoyed games where both teams move toward each other.
Christopher Rice is currently enrolled as a sophomore at Bloomsburg University where he is a member at the fraternity known as Pi Kappa. Chris has returned to The Dark Forest for the summer has already proven that he’s not lost his touch, taking out 10 players his first time back. Chris will definitely be a major paintball force during the summer now that he’s back.
Army & Navy- Easton
TDFT is proud to report that CO2 and paintball products are now carried at the Army & Navy Store in Easton. Information on prices and products is sketchy at best, but TDFT will keep you informed as the story develops.

Paintball Web Guide

http://www.durtydan.com/ddcom/menu.html- A site with lots of information on paintball, plus cool game variations. Also it’s Canadian, like Kids in the Hall.
http://www.pb2x.com/- This is the website of Paintball 2 Xtremes Magazine, probably the best paintball magazine out there. It costs $20 and you can get a Point Zero Model 83 for only $20 more, which is a semi that’s better than a Stingray II, and one fourth the price. PB2X comes out once a month, and is rated 9.4 on pbreview.com
http://www.actionpursuitgames.com/- this is a website for the second best paintball magazine, Action Pursuit Games. APG is a monthly magazine and costs $33. It has more pages than PB2X, but the extra pages are just advertising.  Rated 7.3 on pbreview.com.

Paintball Glossary
Mid-World Trail- The trail which cuts the Forest Behind Nacac in half. On one side of the trail is GPT; on the other side is the Dark Forest. Next to this trail is the preparation area where players prepare for battle. This trail was traditionally used for duels.
Main Trail- This trail runs through the middle of the Dark Forest and GPT. It starts at the field behind Nacac and ends at GPT. This is the trail most players use when launching and offensive into the Dark Forest.
Left Trail- This lesser used trail runs vertically up the left side of the Dark Forest (when viewed from Mid-World Trail). It runs from Mid World Trail to the Crack Shack.
Crack Shack Trail- The trail that breaks off the Main Trail to the left (when viewed from Mid-World Trail) and leads to the Crack Shack. Halfway to the Crack Shack the Meadow is on the right. This is the main route to the Crack Shack.
Ho Chi Minh Trail- A secret trail rumored to run up the right side of the field.
Other Trails There are numerous other trails, some that are more used than others, that lead to and from various locations. These trails are always being forgotten and new ones are made all the time. They often wax and wane with the seasons.
