"ET Canada" interview

"ET Canada" interview - Part 1 [9/14/07]

ET Canada: [speaking to camera]…will have to settle for her upcoming duet with Anne Murray, but at least you can smell nice while you do it. The country superstar has just released her new fragrance called Starlight.
[Cuts to interview]
Shania: Here let me put some on you, because girls love…girls will think you smell great. That’s the whole point right? [Shania sprays host with perfume] ..and do the other one.
ET Canada: Other one too? [Shania sprays host’s other arm]
Shania: [Sprays herself] I keep putting it on.
ET Canada: Oh it smells beautiful doesn’t it?
Shania: Mmmm.
ET Canada (Narration): But Shania’s new perfume isn’t the only thing we can expect from her.
ET Canada: Can we chat about your next album?
Shania: Sure.
ET Canada: Will there be an album coming out next year?
Shania: There is an album co-…we’re working on an album. I can’t say exactly when it’s gonna come out to be honest. I’m not putting any pressure on myself right now.
ET Canada (Narration): [Cuts to shots of Celine Dion] While Shania works on new material, fellow Canadian superstar Celine Dion gets set to release her new album, which was reportedly at one time titled “The Woman In Me” [Cuts to video clip from Whose Bed Have Your Boots Been Under] Shania of course released an album by the same name back in 1995, so it is now called Taking Chances. [Cuts to video clip from Man! I Feel Like A Woman!] While Shania’s fans were in an uproar over the original title, the singer herself thinks it would have been a great idea.
[Man! I Feel Like A Woman! plays quietly in the background]
Shania: I never knew about it. At the time.
Shania: I didn’t know it was happening at the time. In any case, it’s a great complement.
ET Canada: It is.
Shania: She probably thought it was a great title, and it probably suited whatever was going on in the album. I think…she should just record that song is what I think! [Laughs] …because it’s one of my favourite songs that I’ve- that I’ve written, and I think she would be gorgeous singing it.
ET Canada: And which one of her songs would you record?
Shania: I couldn’t sing one of Celine’s songs, she’s much to athletic vocally for me.
ET Canada (Narration): But after some thought, Shania comes up with.
[Video clip and music from “I Drove All Night” plays]
Shania: I know it’s a remix.
ET Canada: That’s your style right there.
Shania: I love-I loved her version of it.

"ET Canada" interview - Part 2 [9/17/07]

ET Canada: [Speaking to camera] Shania just launched her new fragrance named Starlight. Now, while living a private life in Switzerland, Shania admits the blinding glow of fame can still take its toll.
Shania: Fame it-it’s difficult [nods head]. It’s hard. And you see a lot of bad things happen to good people who become famous.
ET Canada (Narration): Although the stunner makes stardom look easy, Shania admits it’s not all it’s cracked up to be.
Shania: It can make me feel very insecure. It’s just strange being in the spotlight all the time. People looking at you – I’m a very private person on top of it.
[Clip from Man! I Feel Like A Woman! plays on screen]
ET Canada (Narration): The grounded megastar lives a quiet life with her husband Mutt Lange and their six year old.
ET Canada: Who’s the brightest star in your life?
Shania: Aw! My son.
ET Canada: Eja.
Shania: Eja, yeah my boy Eja. He’s such a cutie.
[Clip from the Up! video plays]
ET Canada (Narration): I just had to ask the secret to Shania’s youthful glow.
ET Canada: How do you continue to look so beautiful year after year? I’m sitting in front of you today, you look so -
Shania: Botox every four months. [Bursts out laughing] I have never done botox. [Wipes away a tear of laughter] Oh my Lord.
ET Canada: But plastic surgery is not entirely out of the question.
Shania: I will maybe at some point. Well I shouldn’t say I will, I don’t know if I will. Maybe I will.
ET Canada: I don’t think you need to.
Shania: Well maybe when I’m 50, maybe when I’m 60. I don’t know.
[Cuts to clip of I’m Gonna Getcha Good! and the song continues playing softly in the background]
ET Canada (Narration): But for now, Shania will stick to the beauty basics.
[Cuts back to interview]
Shania: I exfoliate A LOT. But in all of those, that’s probably the most unusual think I do for my skin.
