• Must be at least 35 years old

• Electing the President
• The system by which the President is elected is known as the Electoral College
• Voters do not directly elect the President. They votes for the electors, who are then responsible for electing the President.
• The President must have 270 out of 538 electoral votes in order to win the election.
• The winner of the election in each state, gets that's state electoral votes
• The number of a state's electoral votes is equal to the number of representatives (Senators + Representatives)
• For examples, NY has 2 Senators and 31 Members of the House of Representatives. Therefore we have 33 Electoral Votes.
• Presidents are elected to 4 year terms
• The 22nd Amendment limts a President to only serving two terms

Primaries: voters select their party's delegates to the national convention

Convention: the party nominates its candidate for President. (nomination usually reflects primary results)

Election: people choose electors who select the President

Key Components of the Presidency:
 

1. 1. cabinet: the President's advisory board. They are selected by the President and confirmed by the Senate
2. 2. If the President becomes unable to fulfill his duties, the Vice-President shall take over. If the Vice-President cannot take over, then the Speaker of the House shall take over.
3. 3. The Vice-President also serves as the President of the Senate. If there is a tie, the Vice-President must cast a vote to break the tie.
