I guess here's where I lose credibility with some of you. I'm for some of the entitlement programs out there right now.
The SSI program (it comes under social security) has helped many people deserving of help.
Of course there's a lot of abuse in SSI (like in most entitlement programs) but closing it down or cutting everyone off, Is Not the answer.
Seems like a shame to me that a few bad apples always spoils the whole bunch!
There's alot of people who have turned their lives around thanks to programs that have offered help.
Being for these programs isn't a very popular position, but I've seen the lives change. Lives that were as good as over have been turned around.
I want to know- from the people that are dead set against these type programs--
How much is a life worth?
If a program only saves ONE person --------- how much is that ONE life worth? You want to be the guy that tells that persons mother or father that its not worth it to continue the program? You want to tell the people that love this person that his life isn't worth the continued financing of the program?
We're going to pay \\$450 for a toilet seat for Air Force One or $50 a piece for a nut and bolt, but we cant afford to keep this program going.--Used too many nuts and bolts last year!?
All I'm saying is, theres so many places in our government that cut backs can be made with out effecting peoples lives.
ALL those options should be exhausted before messing with people money!
Just one more thought----- A person thats not deserving of any consideration--I mean a real ***hole, might be a totally different person after someone else helps him do something that he cant (or wont) do for himself!

Is it possible to be Conservative and Compassionate? I ask the question
and yet I know the answer. Of course its possible! I'm living proof that
it's possible-- Its not rampant--but it is possible!--Being for an
Entitlement program, or caring about a person that cant get his shit
together, or just in general caring about people, does not disqualify
you from having conservative political views.--If you consider yourself
a conservative thinker and yet you feel compassion for the mess the
worlds in--don't worry about what your suppose to feel and what your
suppose to be against---do what you think is right--
