About the Webmaster

The Webmaster is Tom Thweatt, an ex-member of the U.S. Air Force's infamous 1611 Aeromedical Evacuation Squadron. I was activated from the 118th Aeromedical Evacuation Squadron in Nashville, TN in October of 1990. I had worked in the Aeromedical Control Element at Eskan Village in Riyadh prior to my arrival here in February of 1991. The unit disolved soon after March, the crew I worked with from Westover ARB went north and I was sent home.

Who is the 1611 Aeromedical Evacuation Squadron?

The 1611 AES is a composite Air Force squadron made up of members of Active, National Guard and Reserve squadrons. The first members (including myself) were volunteers who came prior to becoming activated. Aircrews from all over the country came during Desert Shield and Storm. At the height of the build-up in late 1990, this squadron grew to about 1400 members in 22 different locations in 5 countries.
