Bio: Thomas John Patrick Welling was born on April 26th, 1977 in Putnam Valley, West Point, New York. He was one of 4 children to his parent, and grew up with 2 older sisters, and a younger brother. His family moved to Okemos Michigan when he started high school, and he graduated Okemos high school in 1995. After high school, Tom opted to work in construction while living at home with his parent instead of going to college. At the age of 21 Tom, while on a vacation with friends in Nantucket, was discovered by a catalogue shoot scout who suggested he try modeling. Tom decided to take the opportunity and go to New York City. Tom was soon traveling the world as a model, and very successful at it, it was then in 1998 when Tom, while in a Florida coffee shop, met Jamie A. White, a former model/actress, and 2 years his senior. Tom reportedly said he had seen Jamie at several occasions in the past, doing modeling work, but had never really noticed her. The couple began dating. Shortly thereafter, Tom decided that acting was more his thing. After moving to LA and getting jobs on commercials for T J Max, Verison, he landed his first real acting gig, landing a six episode run on Judging Amy, playing opposite Amy Brenneman in a romantic role. The role, originally supposed to be a three-episode part, expanded to six after Tom received rave reviews. He landed a few other cameo roles before finally landing the part of Clark Kent on Smallville in 2000. He landed the role of Clark Kent on Smallville after a nationwide search for a fresh face to play the part. It's been rumored that Tom turned down the part twice before accepting. Tom married his girlfriend Jamie on July 5th 2002 after four years together, they married in a private ceremony at Marthas Vinyard in Cape Cod Mass. In 2003 Tom did is first movie, playing among the cast, Steve Martin, Bonnie Hunt, Hillary Duff, Ashton Kutcher (whom he knew from his modeling days), and Piper Parabo, in "Cheaper by the Dozen" in which he played the part of Charlie Baker. Tom currently lives in Vancouver British Columbia, Canada, where Smallville shoots on location, just having wrapped up his 3rd season playing our favorite superman. When not working, he enjoys reading, playing basketball with friends and running.
