German Titles & Terms Found On A Pedigree

The following is a list of Titles and ratings that you may find on a German pedigree form,
with the English translation. I will also list some additional titles or terms used, that
you will not find on the pink papers, but you may see in advertisements for dogs.
Working Titles
SchH I, II, or III -
Schutzhund I, II, or III - sport encompasing Protection,
Obedience, and Tracking
IPO I, II, or III - Internationalae Prufungsklasse I, II, or III -
International SchH I, II, or III
FH - Faehrtenhund - Tracking Dog, and is the most advanced tracking
title
DH - Diensthund - Service Dog
PH - Polizehund - Police Dog
DPH -Dienstpolizeihund - Service Police Dog
ZH I, II - Zollhund I, II - Customs dog I or II
HGH - Herdengebrauchshund - Herding Dog
INT - Internationale Prufungsklasse - International Training Degree
BPDH I, II - Bannpolizeidiensthund I or II - Railroad Police
Service Dog I or II
BIH - Blindenhund - Guide Dog for the Blind
PFP I, II - Polizeifaehrtenhund I, II - Police Tracking Dog I or II
PSP I, II - Polizeischutzhundprufung I, II - Police Protection Dog
I or II
GrH - Grenzen Hund - Border Patrol Dog
LawH - Lawinen Hund - Avalanche Rescue Dog
Conformation Titles/Ratings
ZB-
Zuchtbewertung - Conformation Show Rating followed by:
V-A -Vorzuglich-Auslese - Excellent Select
V - Vorzuglich - Excellent
SG - Sehr Gut - Very Good
G - Gut - Good
A - Austreichend - Sufficient
M - Mangelhaft - Faulty
U - Ungenugend - Insufficient
On the pedigree, the above will be written like this: ZB-VA, ZB-V, ZB-SG, etc. Then there
will also be Koer Class rating which states that the dog has been breed surveyed and found
to be breeding quality. They will show as:
KKLI - Korklasse I, Breed surveyed recommended to breeding
KKLII - Korklasse II, Breed surveyed suitable for breeding
Lbz - Lebenszeit - Lifetime rating
German Hip Ratings
"a" - Zuerkannt -
certified hips that fell within the following three
categories:
"a" - Normal - certified Normal Hips
"a" - Fast Normal - certified Near Normal Hips
"a" - Noch Zugelassen - certified still permissible Hips
Titles You won't see on the actual pedigree
Sieger or Siegerin -
Title given to the top Male and Female at the
German National Show - they will also receive the rating of VA-1
Weltsieger - World Seiger title awarded to the top dog at the FCI
All Breed Show
Bundeslestungssieger - German National Working Dog Champion awarded
at the Bundessiegerprufung
Europasieger - Conformation winner at the European All Breed Show
Bundeszuchtsieger - Conformation winner at the German National All
Breed Show
Huntesieger - Herding Dog Champion at the German Herding Dog
