Interview conducted by Naberius with Ibex (Guitar) of Black Trinity.

Besides Noctuary, were you in or worked with any bands besides Black Trinity?  If so, what happened to them?

Yeah, while I was in the Army, in 2001, I had a band called Gaebalein.  These guys weren't really into black metal until I came around.  We did a couple of shows and released a CD but they were young and had no clue about what being in a black metal band was all about.  They just wanted to get famous and play death metal!

When you left Noctuary, you joined the Army.  Or was it more Noctuary ended because you joined the Army?

Surt and Hymir were capable of doing Noctuary on their own so, it was more like I left Noctuary and joined the army.

What made you join the army?

Fuck...I'd have either ended up in jail or dead if I hadn't.  But, I am an American, and I still love my country!

When you say "end up in jail or dead," what do you mean?

I wasn't on the path to metal, man.  I had no direction and I got so sick of life that not even metal was cutting it for me.  And for me, if I don't have metal, I might as well be dead or locked up.

How did you come back into contact with the band's new incarnation of Black Trinity?

Pure fuckin' luck!  I wanted to be in a band with Hymir and Surt.  Lucky for me, I saw a flyer with a show they did and I called the number for ticket info and it just happened to be Surt's cell phone!  I say lucky, but it was destined because that flyer was for a show they played a few weeks before!

Was there any tension between you and the former guitarist, Shadowthorn?

Not at all, man!  Shadowthorn is an excellent guitarist and we bullshit every time we run across each other.

How long have you been playing the guitar?  Who are your influences?

Shit, man it's been about 15 years since I started.  My influences are Galder, Slash, Satyr, Tom Rojcak (Decrepit...RIP), Eddie Van Halen, Trey Azagthoth, Tony Iommi, Demonaz, and plenty more.

What are some of your favorite black metal bands these days,  new or old?

Always Old Man's Child, Khold, Dissection, Darkthrone, Immortal, Decrepit, Mayhem, Dimmu Borgir, Cradle of Filth, Thy Winter Kingdom, and an assload of local and unheard of bands.

I see most of those are "veteran" bands.  Is there any newer bands that you are into, or do you tend to stick mainly with the classics?

Yeah, I tend to stick with the older crowd.  Got too many bands nowadays fucking shit up.  Although, I like a few newer bands like Gravemoss and Gravespawn.  It takes a lot to influence me and most of these younger bands ain't doing it for me.

Is Black Trinity your only current band or do you have any side projects?  If not, would you ever consider getting into something else, or is Black Trinity your only focus?

Well, I've thought about doing side projects but I want my main focus to be Black Trinity.  Though, I wouldn't mind doing a side project
.

The release of Black Trinity's debut album, Demonic Pleasures, has been pushed back many times.  What has caused this?

The label wanted to use Plastikhead as a distributor but I don't know if that will happen.  The real reason is that we have a slacker label
.

For those who have never seen Black Trinity live, what should they expect from a typical show?

An extreme black metal show complete with total annihilation of the word of Christ
!

What do you think of the new generation of black metal fans and musicians that are coming out?

I think that the new generation is starting out younger.  With today's technology, you can just about release a half decent demo on your own.  There is way too much of intermingling genres.  Black metal should stay black metal.  They're way too many musicians out there with the lack of the ability to come out with original black metal so they try to mix it with another genre.  It's fucking stupid.  Whoever reads this and does that...stop, because you're a fucking idiot
!

In your own mind, what do you hope Black Trinity accomplishes before the end?

I want this to be a full onslaught of blasphemy that will be remembered in the minds of future black metalers!

Any closing thoughts or statements?

I would like to thank you, personally, for supporting Black Trinity and the Trinity horde at Black Trinity.com.  Jacob Dotson and his brother created the site out of nothing and now it's a totally fuckin' killer site...without them, we wouldn't have a site at all.  And to all the  fans that support us:  INFERNAL FUCKIN' HAILS! \m/
