Covered By Snow Drift

The demo starts off with the intro track, "Battle Cry..."  If you're a fan of otherworldly/eerie keyboard intros then the first track is worth the buy alone.  It's definitely one that will send chills up your spine.  The almost inaudible vocals in the background after you get into the song manage to make it even more haunting.  It then goes into the crunchy intro riff of the title track, "Covered By Snow Drift."  This is prrof that awesome black metal does not need to be merely relentless speed.  The song breaks up into a slower pace now and then and reminds me greatly of Craft while doing so, before fading out to the sound of the snowdrift.  Next, is one of two covers on the demo, the very well executed interpretation of Carpathian Forest's "The Return of the Freezing Winds."  "Awakening the Evil" starts off with a sample from the movie, "The Evil Dead" and is also inspired by the film.  Great song.  Next, is the second cover of the demo, Darkthron's "Unholy Black Metal."  But, Wulv goes even further then accomplishing a great cover of a classic; he closes out the song with the intro to another classic, "Freezing Moon" by Mayhem.  "Violated By the Dark Forest" works as the outro and contains more of the very eerie, cold sounding keyboards and another sample from "The Evil Dead."  If you like straightforward black metal in the vein of Darkthrone or Craft, and don't mind the brilliant use of keyboards done right, then do anything to get this demo.  You won't regret it.  I was personally unable to find a single thing wrong with it.
