GEIMHRE (CAN) | ||
For the Blood of Hinterland 2005 Tanhu Records By: Veliccia Tongue of the Wolf was especially looking forward to this release because we have waited on it for such a long time. Gehimhre has had many issues with getting this release out but all the headaches finally paid off. The fist track, "A Call to the Aryan Winds" should instantly be a "new" (all the material on this demo is a few years old) NSBM classic. I've never heard a band put so much meaning behind their music. So much that it makes me want to lace up my boots and go out to stomp the mongrel horde! "We Are the Wolves, You Are the Sheep" pretty much explains itself. Powerful through the beginning but then ends softly with acoustic guitars. Then onto my favorite track, "Beyond the Frozen Cross." I'm very fond of the lyrics but that is one thing that sticks out about Geimhre: even if there were no vocals, the music is powerful enough to speak for itself. Onto the fourth track, "Celtic." Not originally planned to be on this release but it fits the mold perfectly. Next is the "Wolf Interlude." Self explanitory...wolves howling, acoustic guitars, a touch of keys and Guerfaul's ghostly voice. This melts beautifully into the song, "Ulfhartaich." Just plain a beautiful song with all kinds of different melodies throughout. Night and day, compared with the next track, "Traitor Song." Filled with hatred. You know you have to love the clip right before the song starts. Buy the demo and you'll know what I mean. The long drudging riffs in "Buried in Permafrost," the demo's closer, makes you feel just what the title implies. The vocals are a little different to me on this one but still very good. More of a classic black metal sound. Over all, this is one of my favorite releases in a long time from any band. It is well recommended, not only by me, but by Naberius, as well. This should be your next purchase. Period. |
