Volkerenmoord 2004 Sadolust Records By: Naberius Before you even listen to this demo, you know what you are in store for. I say this because contained in the tape case is a real piece of goat bone. Then, Gheest, the sole member, takes it one step further; the insert is smeared with blood over the hand numbering. Whether it is his or someone else's, I don't know but it really doesn't matter because, either way, it's an indication that he went all out for this release. Or he is trying to compensate for shitty music, which I don't think is the case here. The intro track, "Zelfmoord Propaganda (Deel 1)," works great here in providing the atmosphere; with acoustic guitars and slight keyboards with even some thunder thrown in there for good measure. "Christen Haat" and the title track are disappointingly short in length and I think he sold himself short on these tracks. They are great songs and have the ability to go on much longer. Although, it does leave me waiting for more. Plus, I'm a sucker for chicks moaning (towards the end of the title track. Actually, the only "normal" length track is "Kamp Der Vernietiging," which is very Leviathan-esque, in my opinion. The outro, "Zelfmoord Propaganda (Deel 2)," much like the opening track, has acoustic guitars, although different, but he also added some very, very tortured vocals over it that make you extremely uncomfortable to listen to. Which is genius. I'm eagerly awaiting more from Gheestenland. |
