OTHENDARA  (USA)
Blasphemous Revelations Arise the Ancient Evil

First off, the intro track is a complete calm before the storm.  It succeeds in making the rest of the release catch you entirely by surprise.  This is classic sounding black metal, complete with the ridiculously long song titles we all love, with the best being, by far, "Sadistic Witchcraft of Necro Impurity."  The most important thing about this release is that while having a very classic feel to it, it does so without feeling "stale."  The riffs are not overused nor do they drag out for half of the song.  Actually, the riffs change quite frequently, keeping the listener on their toes.  You can also tell that Kriglord can actually play the guitar.  It's not like those "guitarists" who have been playing for two months and slop down the first riff they ever wrote into a song.  He know's what he's doing.
Sadly, probably the most recognition that Othendara will get will more than likely be due to the fact that both Kriglord and Noctis are former members of Nachtmystium, which is a shame because I think these guys deserve a little more credit than that for this release.
