I don't know if I'd call this "depressing black metal," seeing as how Wade, sole member, takes an "anti-religious" stance but, there is that definite evil atmosphere present.  That said, he did a hell of a job to achieve that without the use of keyboards.  Listen to it and you'll be as shocked as I was to lean this.  It all sounds so far away, like you're desperately chasing the music but just can't catch it.  It leaves you feeling helpless in it's presence.  But, that doesn't mean that this is some guitar-ambiant snooze fest.  It's still very raw, but not underproduced, and is equally heavy as it is atmospheric.
All of the tracks are long and drawn out but hey, that's what this type of black metal is.  The standout track is "Midnight Revelation" because of the seeming break in the growing monotony.  The entire song is centered around one riff but is altered for every new part of the song, and not just a note changed here and there.  It's difficult to explain and musicians will appreciate his ability to do that but, the "scene whores" will probably pass it off as "being lazy" and not coming up with something new.  If you're into the whole Leviathan, Xasthur, "depressing", etc., scene, then this should be a staple in your collection because this is how it is done.  Sinpularctos could easily become one of the "big names" alongside the aforementioned with this release.
