Brighter Days (Without Words)
Chapter 3
Curiosity
Nicky woke up to a sound of telephone ringing loudly. ‘Yeah?’ ‘Guess what?’
‘What?’ He wasn’t up to playing guessing games with Shane.
‘I’ve scored a date with Mita!’ ‘When? Tonight?’
Nicky suddenly sat straight. Shane had been having this annoyingly massive
crush on Mita, an Indonesian exchange student who was studying in Trinity,
and he couldn’t stop talking about her since he met her. Mita knew who they
were because they were just beyond popular in Indonesia and that was why she
was doubting Shane’s feeling for her. She was afraid Shane would play up
with her as if she was one of Shane Filan’s games. But after long talks
every night and after Nicky tried to convince her endlessly, finally!
‘Yep! And I’m calling to say a huge thank you for helping me to convince  her.’
‘Hey, no problem. Have fun okay? Told ya she’d give in sooner or later.’
‘The charm of Filan!’
Both of them broke into sets of laughter and started teasing each other  again.
‘One more thing.’ ‘Yeah?’ ‘Holidays!’
‘That soon? I thought Louis was going to make us work a bit more?’
Nicky was now fully awake from his sleep after all the good news Shane had
brought with him.
‘Mr. Ronan ‘VERY nice’ Keating said we could have an early holiday for,
check this out, TWO AND A HALF WHOLE WEEKS!’
Shane was practically yelling at Nicky, for good of course. Then both of
them started to scream like a pair of primary school boys who just got new
long-desired games from their mothers.
After sessions of screaming out of happiness, they said their goodbyes and
Nicky put down them phone. He changed into proper clothes, got his car key
out and drove over to where else but Emily’s place.
