Love Has No Boundaries
Chapter 3
The first two months passed by quickly, and Mark and Toni had become the best of friends. They hung out together every afternoon and as often as they could every weekend. They knew a lot about each other, even some of their deepest thoughts. They would often sit at this tree that they had spotted in the park not long ago which had a low big branch that was sturdy enough to sit on. They would talk on and on for hours about their joys in life as well as their sorrows and speak their mind out about things without being judged at their opinions about things. Then they would walk home together, looking forward to the next day where they could keep each other company. And there were a few afternoons when Mark would teach Toni how to play tennis, or she would drag him along for a game of billiards.

One afternoon, Toni, Alessia, Sandra, Helen and Patricia were walking along the stores at the local mall, looking for something to wear to an up-coming party at Kian Egan's house. All his friends will be there and all of the girls were invited coz they share some of the same classes, and they were friends of Kian's friends as well. "Kian likes you so much Patricia." Toni said as they walked into a shop. "You really think so?" "Think so! He told me so!" Toni said looking at a simple black dress. "So, do you guys have any dates?" Helen asked them. She was already going out with a guy named Bryan McFadden from her P.E. class, and they were a cute looking couple. They had met by accident. Bryan had hit a ball while playing football and it had hit Helen while she was running on the track field, and it made her fall. Bryan immediately rushed over to apologize and love had started from then on ever since their looked into each other's eyes and felt something so sweetly different. "I could fix you up with some of Bryan's friends if you're interested." "No thanks. Nicky just asked me to go with him." Alessia said. They had become partners in a Physics project and they often went out for a hot cup of tea, coffee or chocolate every afternoon to talk about and work on their project. Alessia had long since liked Nicky but was kinda shy and she didn't dare show him. She just treated her like she would any other person in the class (in a nice way of course!) even if her heart was beating so fast it felt like it would explode every time he would pass by or sit and talk to her. She found out that Nicky Byrne felt the same way she did when he called her up and asked if they could talk. She thought it was about the project but she was so surprised when he took her for a picnic to this beautiful place full of flowers and trees. And he told her he was so crazy about her. Alessia just said she liked him as well but she would like to give it time, for they barely knew each other at that time. Both Bryan and Nicky were from Dublin but they had to go to Sligo for unknown reasons. "What about you Toni? Are you going with somebody?" asked Helen, holding up a dress that complimented the color of her eyes. It looked perfect on her. "Well, I'm not going coz I have no one to go with. Unless Sandra isn't going with her dearest Shane!" Toni joked. Sandra made a face. Up until now, she was still annoyed at Shane and he's getting crazier about her every single day. He would leave a long stemmed rose every single day at her locker with a note on it for her or a very romantic quotation. Or even sometimes a poem that he wrote himself. "I am going but definitely not with him!" Sandra said, looking at a pair of shoes that matched the dress that she had picked. "Tell us Toni, is something going on between you and Mark that you haven't told us about? I mean, you practically hang out with each other every single moment that you guys can." Patricia asked. "There's nothing going on between us. We're just best friends and that's all." Toni said as they walked towards the cashier to pay for the stuff they picked. "You can't fool us Toni. We see the way you talk to him and look at him. It's practically written all over you that you like him so." Alessia said. "Didn't you ever wish that someday it could be you and him?" Sandra asked. "He doesn't like me at all..." Toni said sadly. "Aha! You do like him then!" exclaimed Helen. "It's good he doesn't notice." Patricia said.

The next day Toni went into the cafeteria at lunchtime and ate alone. "Everyone's so busy today. Except me that is!" she thought to herself. Mark had to do some research in the library and Toni didn't feel like going along. The other girls had some projects to do while the others had some errands to run and so on. Luckily, Magda wasn't around to torment her that day. "Hi! Is this seat taken?" Toni looked around and found herself staring into the most gorgeous pair of brown eyes she had ever seen. "Umm...no." she stammered. "Thanks. By the way, my name is Patrick." "I'm Toni." "I know..." he said, suddenly regretting that he did. "What do you mean?" Toni asked. "We have chemistry class together remember?" he asked. "Oh yeah! I remember!" They talked on and on about each other and the party at Kian's house was eventually brought up. "So, are you going?" Patrick asked. "Well, no." "How come?" "I have no one to go with." "Maybe we could go together. It won't be a date or anything if you don't want it to be one..." he trailed off. "I barely know you, and you don't know me! You might regret going with me coz I'm not much of a talker. I really don't talk much." "Well, we still have one more week to get to know each other before the party." "I'll think about it." Toni said, and she smiled. "But at the moment, we've both got to get going coz it's time for our chemistry class already." she grinned. "I totally forgot!" Patrick said. They went off to the chem. lab just in time for Mark to see them disappear around a corner. Toni had forgotten that she was to wait for Mark at the cafeteria so they could go together to their chemistry class. She was too wrapped up in talking with Patrick and she felt like she wanted to know him more. "Who could she be with?" Mark thought, frowning and sadly walking off toward the laboratory.
