Love Has No Boundaries
Chapter 6
“Mark…” was all that could come out of Toni’s mouth. She was totally speechless, she didn’t know what to say. He held her tight, fearing that she might go away again before he had the chance to say how sorry he was. But to his surprise, she didn’t put up a fight. He immediately loosened his grip. “I’m so sorry.” Mark said, holding her close. “I’m sorry too.” Toni whispered softly. Tears were running down her cheeks. Mark wiped them away. “For what?” “For not having accepted your apology sooner.” “You don’t have to be sorry at all. I deserved everything you’ve done and the way you treated me, Toni. Even if it hurt me like hell. I was such a stupid and foolish person.” He said, smiling. “Friends again?” Toni asked. He looked away. “What’s wrong?” she asked, looking worried. Mark looked into her eyes. ”Maybe I thought wrong. Maybe she doesn’t feel the same way.” He thought. “Actually, I have something to tell you.” Mark said softly. They sat down at the marble edges of the veranda. Mark knew that what he was about to do was a very big risk but there was no better time than tonight. He felt like his heart would explode if he didn’t tell her soon. “Do you know why I got angry at you?” Mark asked. “Because I didn’t wait for you. And I’m really sorry I…” “That wasn’t it.” Mark cut her off. “When I got home, I really thought hard to explain to myself why I did those things to you. I only came up with one explanation…” he continued, taking her hand. “I was jealous. I couldn’t stand the thought that you were with someone else that made you laugh and smile a lot… someone who makes you happy… and I didn’t realize just how I was so crazy about you until that night. I’m so totally in love with you and I was too blind to have seen it before. Maybe I was already content with just being with you that I didn’t notice that you were already someone that I’m living for. And I’m scared to lose you all over again but I just had to tell you that…  that I love you.” He confessed quietly. Toni was dead silent. “I have something to tell you as well.” she finally said, breaking the icy silence. She took her hand from his, stood up and turned away from him.  Mark’s face fell. Every ounce of courage that he had still had within him vanished. He sat quietly as he prepared for the worst. “ I shouldn’t have told her.” he thought. “When you came tonight, I didn’t know exactly how I felt. It was all so confusing for me.” She paused. Mark wanted to kick himself. He was half listening to what Toni was saying to him. He was so mentally tormented. “She doesn’t feel the same way stupid!” he thought to himself. He looked at her as she sat down beside him. She took his hand. “This is it.” he thought, bracing himself, hoping that her words wouldn’t hurt him as much as he could imagine. “And it’s all finally clear to me now.” Toni said, gazing deeply into Mark’s eyes. “I love you, Mark.” He was stunned. “What did she just say?!” he thought, a smile slowly spreading across his lips. He was deliriously happy! He had never in his whole life felt that way before. Mark lost himself in her dark brown eyes. He brushed a few stray strands of her hair away from her face. He leaned over and closed his eyes, kissing her so sweetly and tenderly. Mark smiled contentedly as they pulled away from each other. “Now that I have you, I feel like my life has just begun.” Mark said, holding her close.

After a few days, word had gotten around in school that Mark and Toni were going out together. They spent much more time together than they used to before. They were totally smitten over each other, as if one wouldn’t survive a day without the other.
One Saturday afternoon, they decided to go out on a picnic, along with the other girls and lads. They decided to have as much fun as they could have, for there was only a month more left until they have their exams.
Sandra and Shane were talking under a tree, while Sandra lay on Shane’s lap. He would constantly tease her about something that she would say and kiss her on the tip of her nose. They had just begun going out with each other as well, with the help of their friends. Mark, Nicky, Bryan, Kian, Toni, Alessia, Helen and Patricia had been collaborating and they fixed them up on a blind date. They kept putting notes, letters and gifts into Shane and Sandra’s lockers, writing ‘anonymous’ at the bottom of every note. They finally made them meet one evening beside a lake, where they had arranged a table for two and a candle lit dinner for Sandra and Shane. They both got there at the same time, and Shane, was very surprised. He thought that Sandra had hated her. Sandra on the other hand didn’t want to embarrass Shane so she decided to stay. They found out later on that neither of them had anything to do with the letters and gifts in their lockers as they talked about it over dinner. They started laughing as soon as they figured out that their friends were the culprits. They had a wonderful time that evening, and they decided to do it again sometime. But unable to resist the call of love, they ended up kissing in the park while taking a stroll before heading to their own homes.
Helen and Bryan wandered around in the woods, talking about the things they did when they were children.  Bryan had brought along his discman, and they shared the earphones. They stopped and danced slowly to the music when their song was playing, gazing deeply into each other’s eyes. Bryan kissed her passionately, taking her breath away. He loved her so much that he would be willing to do anything for her.
Kian and Patricia were playing football, then later on, Kian was chasing Patricia around because she was “cheating”. Well, she wasn’t exactly cheating, Kian was just losing because he wasn’t concentrating on the game. He was concentrating on Patricia! He smothered her with kisses when he finally caught her and they lay side by side on the grass, tired from running. They held hands and looked at the sky, pointing out shapes of clouds that they could see. “Look at that! Isn’t that so pretty?” Patricia pointed to a bunch of clouds. Kian rolled on his side. “Well, what I see is even prettier.” he smiled, kissing her on the cheek.
Alessia and Nicky were on a boat in a nearby lake. The boat was big enough so Nicky and Alessia lied down, their arms wrapped around each other. He felt like he was in heaven, and he didn’t want the moment to end. Ever! He was so in love with Alessia, he wanted to marry her. They started talking about their future if they would get married, as they lay there together, letting the sun bathe them in it’s glorious rays. It was just for kicks, but they were half-serious as well.
Mark was sitting down and his back was leaning against a tree. Toni sat beside him and her head was resting on his chest with their arms around each other. They were reading a book, and once in a while talk, enjoying the calmness and serenity of the place. They had even talked about the night of Kian’s party, how Toni got jealous and was so embarrassed when she later on found out that the girl that Mark was with was his cousin. And that Patrick and Kian talked to each other earlier that day to fix them up. Patrick told Toni to go to the terrace to wait for him there and Shane did the same with Mark. Mark then took it as a sign and things went on from there. They were having the time of their lives, even if they were just sitting there together. What mattered was that they were with each other. Mark sighed. Toni looked up at him and kissed his chin. “Are you bored?” Toni asked, running her fingers through his soft hair. “Nope. Just feeling content that’s all.” He smiled down at her, kissing her on the forehead, then on the tip of her nose, then her lips. “Why? Do you have something in mind?” Mark asked, smiling mischievously. Toni laughed, punching him playfully on the arm. They continued reading, enjoying the moment. They both felt perfect, and deep inside they knew and felt that nothing could possibly go wrong.
