Learning to Love Again Chapter 1 |
|||||||
Alena Chiu looked out of the plane window. This was what she needed. A fresh start. Nobody she knew. No strings attached. Slowly Ireland came into view. It’s beauty reached her as she looked down upon her new life. It looked so much like her old home. Same trees, same beauty but probably no as quiet though. New Zealand drifted back into mind. The heart of her grief, betrayal and of the weaving of lies. No, no time to think about it now she thought as the stewardess announced on the intercom of the plane landing in 5 minutes. This new world was going to be different. There will be no chance for lies, no chance for betrayal. As the plane descended she made up her mind never to think about anything that was unnecessary and had only caused heartache. She got down off the plane into the Dublin International Airport. Shouts and screams were audible as she got her luggage. Glancing over she saw bunches, crowds, of girls, reporters surrounding a bunch of good looking young men. They looked familiar and then it came to her. They were Westlife. The new sensation in Europe and New Zealand right now. She liked their music but never went beyond that to have major crushes on them like other girls her age. She smiled at them, those girls, so innocent, so young and unknowing. Not that she was much older herself. But events had hardened her heart and she had the same thoughts that found it’s way into people in their late 20’s. They did not know, yet, how men can destroy one’s vulnerable heart she thought to herself. With another grim smile to herself she collected her cases and walked out of the airport into Dublin’s busy midst She was staying in a hotel that she could afford at the time being. Lying on the the bed a thought that maybe she won’t be able to build a new life here after all came into mind. She still hadn’t found a job even after 2 days of pursuit and her money was slowly dwindling. Of course she hadn’t much experience and no college degree but she had a good knowledge of various languages including French, Japanese and also various dialects of Chinese. Picking up the newspaper she had just bought before breakfast she looked at the job section. Hope blossomed within her as she read an ad that asked for somebody with a good knowledge of languages and is willing to be on the road a lot traveling around the world. Accommodation and travel costs were paid for by the employer. This was it. She had to get it. It had been her childhood dream to travel around the world but circumstances had prevented her from it. She rang the number on the ad and made an appointment to go for the job interview. It seemed they were in a hurry to find someone as the interview was made for early tomorrow morning. She didn’t mind. The sooner the better she thought. She smiled to herself in delight. It was time for a much needed shopping trip. |
