Chapter 10
Alena went to the bathroom and took a shower, brushing her teeth in the process. Refreshed she went back to the bed and rang down to the kitchens to order some room service. She gently shook Kian awake. He opened his eyes and looked at her.
“Wake up, breakfast is about to arrive in a minute. How do you feel? Better?”
“Yeah thanks for everything.”
“That’s ok. Your fever has gone down but I suggest you go to the doctors to have a check-up. I’m not exactly a terrific nurse.”
“I will..only if you’ll go with me..” said Kian smiling shyly at her.
“Uh..” Alena hesitated, guess it wouldn’t hurt...she thought “Sure. Now go and brush your teeth. Breakfast is here.” A knock sounded from the door. She went and got the food while Kian went to the bathroom.
While they were eating another knock sounded on the door.
“I’ll go get it” said Alena. She went and opened the door. Shane and the rest of the lads were standing outside.
“Hey Alena. Have ya seen Kian? He didn’t come back last night. We’re quite worried.” said Shane. Just then Kian called out “Who is it Alena?”
“Oh that solves the mystery of the missing person.” grinned Mark.
“It’s not what you think” explained Alena “Come in and we’ll explain. The guys just grinned and winked at her. She sighed, exasperated.
The lads mouthed ‘Good on ya’ to Kian as they walked in winking and grinning some more. Bryan glowered a bit but then after awhile smiled and hit Kian playfully on the shoulder.
“Fast worker ain’tcha?” he whispered chuckling.
“It’s really not what you think guys!” protested Kian.
With this Alena and Kian explained why Kian had stayed in her room for the night and was now having breakfast together.
“Wow, you’re a heroine! Beauty saves the Beast!” said Bryan “Come on now, everybody. Applause please” At that everybody burst out laughing and clapped.
“Oh before I forget guys. I need your cellphone numbers. In case of an emergency like last night. Oh and your doctor’s phone number, coz got to ring him up to get Kian checked up. Actually just give me all your contact numbers. I don’t want what happened last night to happen again.”
“Sure” said Nicky writing all his phone no.s on a piece of paper as the other lads did the same.
“Woah, I never knew yous had so many. It’ll take me ages just to store it in my cellphone.”
“Hey I’m hungry. Let’s order more food.” suggested Bryan. And so all the lads had breakfast in Alena’s room.
After they ate Alena got one of the lads to phone their doctor to come to the hotel to check if Kian was really ok. The doctor came and did his check up. As promised Alena stayed with Kian through his check up. The doctor pronounced him well but needed to take more rest and some medicine for the slight cough that Kian had. He handed Alena the prescription for the medicine and then left. Alena ordered Kian to stay in bed for the rest of the day and then went down and asked one of the hotel assistants where there was a pharmacy. She got back to the hotel and then went to knock on Kian’s room.
“Come in!” called Kian from inside. Alena went in to find him flipping through the TV channels on the TV. Seemed that nothing was on and he was getting bored. “Hey Alena!” Kian’s face lit up as he saw her. “I’m so bored! Being sick isn’t that fun after all. You’re not allowed to do anything and there’s nothing good on the TV.”
“Well the doctor did say you needed more rest. You should be sleeping.” answered Alena.
“But I can’t. I feel completely well except for this annoying cough and I can’t sleep. It’s such a beautiful day outside. Look why don’t we go out for a walk. Just one little one?” he looked at her hopefully with his puppy dog eyes turned on at full blast.
“Kian... the doctor did say you should have lots of rest if you want that cough to go away.” Alena hesitated.
“What would one little walk hurt?”
“Well...”
“Yay! Let’s go.” and he was out of the bed like lightning, he was already dressed.
“Hey why are you already dressed. Did you plan this or something.”
“Plan what?” he looked at her innocently. He didn’t fool her, he definitely had this all planned.
“So where are we going? You seem to know.” she asked.
“Well nowhere, just around.” he still had that innocent look on his face.
“I see.....” Alena looked suspiciously at him. “Let’s go then.”
Kian took the lead and led them down to the street’s outside. The sky was a clear blue and it was a beautiful day. The streets were crowded with people. Everyone seemed to be in a happy mood especially Kian. He romped around like a little child.
“Alena! Come here! Look that’s guys been standing on his head over there for like 15 mins now.” Kian grinned.
“Won’t he die? Wouldn’t too much blood rush to his brain?” asked Alena looking concerned at the man upside down.
“Hm.. good point. I don’t know..oh well..if he thinks he can then he must can, he wouldn’t deliberately kill himself would he?”
“Ok...” They moved on and went walking along the street not a care in the world, that was until a fan spotted Kian and recognized him and screamed “KIAN!! OH MY GOSH!!”
“Run!” Kian yelled.
“What?!” Kian grabbed her hand and ran. “Hey!”
“Come on! Just run or we’re going to be mobbed!” They ran for dear life with the fan chasing after them. It seemed that they would never lose her, but then Kian had an ingenious idea and turned down a side street and went back round the other way. The fan went pass without a thought. They leaned against a wall and gasped for air.
“Man I never want to go out with you again!” Alena said exhausted. “Couldn’t you have had the initiative to put on a hat and some glasses? Geez it’s so embarrassing. Why did you run? It was a fan, the least you could’ve done was give her an autograph and not run away.”
“Well I forgot about the fame bit for a minute there....so forgot the glasses etc. Well.. I ran because I didn’t want our day to end just like that, I knew that if she had come over the whole of the street would be crowding around.. then we won’t be alone anymore......” Kian looked at her. His blue eyes were intense and were totally focused on her deep brown ones. Kian leaned down. She knew what he was going to do and she knew that you she shouldn’t let him. But she wanted him to. No! She won’t start that part of life again. She looked away and feigned cheerfulness.
“Let’s go back to the hotel. I’m exhausted. Don’t want to risk meeting another fan and besides you need to rest. All the running isn’t very good for you cough. Come on.”
Alena walked away gesturing for him to come.
“Oh ok..” He looked disappointed and a little sad. She pretended not to notice and walked along as if nothing had happened.
Back at the hotel she made him go to bed and fed him some food and then some medicine. Making sure he was ok she went back to her own room to contemplate what had just happened.
