| When I'm With You Chapter 2 |

Nicky stepped out of the house. The sun was shining brightly, touching his face with its golden rays. There were children playing on the street, laughing as they ran past him. He couldn’t care less. He just wanted to walk. Walk away from everything until he’s totally tired and drained. He continued walking, having no idea at all where he was heading. Nicky kept thinking to himself, constantly stumbling over a pebble or a crack on the sidewalk from time to time. He couldn’t stop thinking of what he just said to Georgina. It echoed again and again in his head like a ghost that was haunting him. “…I never loved you anyway.” He had shouted at her. He couldn’t believe it. It was something he never dreamed of ever telling her. He remembered the first time he saw Georgina, sitting on her desk. She looked so prim and proper, and he instantly fell for her. She was absolutely breathtaking, and she still is. But the sparks between them before were missing, and their burning love for each other had been reduced to dying embers. No matter how hard they tried, it was so hard to keep their love alive. Being with each other wasn’t pleasant for them anymore. It felt so mandatory instead. It was like they “have” to be with each other and not they “want” to be with each other. It was so sad, thinking of the five years they’ve spent. Maybe that was what kept them trying to hold on. It was all too good to waste. But isn’t it so wrong to keep on holding on to what you don’t want anymore? It was like they were depriving themselves of the chance to move on. Sooner or later they’ll have to admit that things between them aren’t just working at all. Nicky kept walking, oblivious to the world around him. He suddenly felt a heavy arm drape around his shoulders and someone was talking to him. Nicky stared at him, a blank expression on his face. He knew that person very well but it hasn’t occurred to him yet who the person was. His brain wasn’t functioning well. Nothing was functioning well in him at all. “Nicky, are you okay? What’s up man? Is this some kind of joke? Oh, so you’re ignoring me huh?” Bryan said. Nicky snapped out of his trance. “I’m so sorry.” he mumbled softly. “Hey! Are you Nicky Byrne or are you just a dead ringer of him? This isn’t the Nicky I know! What’s wrong man?” “Look Bry, no offense man but I want to be alone. G and I just had another fight okay? And please, don’t bother trying to fix it up with the other guys like you did the last time. I really appreciate it but this is my problem and I have to handle it alone.” Nicky said despondently as he sighed and started to walk away. He didn’t even bother saying goodbye to Bryan. He just had to walk away. Maybe that’s what he had to do. Just walk away from everything. Walk away from Georgina and the five wonderful years they’ve shared together. Tears blurred Nicky’s vision as he continued walking. A strong impact suddenly hit him, crushing his side as he went flying to the ground, rolling a few times before the blurred light escaped his eyes and he was immersed in complete darkness. |
