When I'm With You
Chapter 6

Toni closed her eyes, feeling the wind as it blew gently on her face, messing her hair up a bit. She didn’t care if her hair looked terrible. The wind gave her such a lovely feeling. The wind reminded her of being free. She frowned at the thought. “Why? Do I feel chained?” she thought to herself as she opened her eyes and looked at Mark who was sitting beside her. They were at the beach, sitting on the sand as they watched the sunset. It had been such a lovely day. They celebrated their first month anniversary all day long, and now she was completely tired. Mark looked at her as well and pulled her close to him. She sighed. Mark thought it was out of contentment but to her, it was something else. She felt terrible. Mark had been so sweet to her for the whole day, giving her surprise after surprise, treating her like a princess. He was always sweet toward her, showering her with affection each time he could every single day since they met. He made sure Toni got everything she wanted and more. She even felt like a spoiled brat whenever she was with Mark. The thing is, she felt as if Mark didn’t deserve someone like her at all. He deserved someone better, someone who wouldn’t do horrible things to him. Wouldn’t you feel as if you are the most terrible person on earth if you spend the whole day with the man who’s head over heels for you and you’re thinking of being with his friend?
Mark started kissing Toni on the cheek, trailing kisses all the way to her neck. Toni closed her eyes, suddenly enjoying the moment. Her lips eagerly searched for Mark’s. They kissed, and after a few minutes Toni abruptly pulled away. She was suddenly revolted. She felt disgusted at herself to be precise. She turned away from Mark, looking at the ocean. Toni sighed once again. She had it bad. Even the ocean reminded her of someone else’s eyes. “Hey, I’m sorry. Did I do something that you didn’t like? What is it? What’s wrong?” Mark asked, gently placing his hand on her shoulder. “I’m sorry. I really know how to ruin a romantic moment don’t I?” Toni laughed forcefully. She was unable to look Mark in the eyes. “No, you wouldn’t have acted that way if I didn’t do something wrong.” he said. “Look, it wasn’t you really. It’s just me. I’m… I’m really tired and I want to go to sleep already. I’m still tired from the party last night.” “I understand.” Mark said quietly, getting up on his feet and helping Toni up. She let Mark walk on before her, but after a few paces he stopped and took her hand, walking by her side. Toni felt so guilty. Mark didn’t deserve this at all. If only he knew what was on Toni’s mind. If only he knew that she couldn’t stop thinking of Nicky Byrne.

Nicky stopped caressing Georgina’s bare back. He lied flat on his back, disgust filling every corner of his body and mind. He had just made love to Georgina, and the thought made him cringe. Seeing that she was fast asleep, Nicky wrapped a blanket around him, heading for the bathroom. He took a shower and thought of how in the world did he manage to pull off something like that. It also surprised him that Georgina didn’t even push him away. It was disgusting, doing it with your girlfriend while thinking of someone else. He laughed mischievously, remembering how he nearly said someone else’s name. Thank goodness Georgina kissed him before he could even make a sound. He found it revolting. He felt like he could never forgive himself of what he did to Georgina. What if she actually thought that he was interested in her again? He sighed, going out of the shower and drying himself with a towel. He dressed quickly, thinking if he should sleep on the couch. The thought of getting back into bed with Georgina after what he did made him want to puke. Nicky went out of the bathroom and looked at her. He felt so sorry for her. If only she knew how he had just used her. He crawled back into bed, turning away from her. Nicky drifted into sleep, dreaming of the girl that was sadly his friend’s girlfriend.
