You'll Never Stand Alone
Chapter 5

“Jeez, stop it!” Becky said to herself. But she couldn’t… She had
thought about that gorgeous blonde from ‘The Swan’ every minute
since she first saw him. But she knew nothing was ever gonna
happen between the two of them, I mean for something to happen
they had to meet and besides Becky didn’t have any plans to get
involved with nobody. She was better off alone, she thought. ‘All
guys are the same anyway. I bet Nicky’s just like James when it
comes down to it… and even if he’s not, he’s gonna leave me all
alone, just like everybody else has.’ with that she convinced herself
and left the apartment to go for a short walk.         **********
“Okae, me, Nix and Bry go this way and you two can go that way!”
Shane gave the other lads instructions about where to go. After all it
was his idea so he had to be in charge right?
“Yes boss!” Kian said and saluted.
“Oh don’t be such a child! Now let’s go we’re on a mission here,
remember?” Shane said and started walking down the street. Mark
and Kian went the other way and they had all decided to meet back
at the hotel in an hour. That is if no one found her, cos then they of
course would use their very dear mobiles.
They walked around for 45 minutes without any luck, but then Mark
suddenly stopped having Kian, who walked behind him, walking
right into his back.
“What are you doing? Jeez man, say something when you decide
not to move your feet anymore!”
“Shhhsh, look… that’s her isn’t it?” Mark pointed to a girl across
the street and he was actually right. There she was, there was Rebecca…
“Now what do we do?” Kian asked as they turned around and
carefully began following her. They weren’t exactly James Bond
when it came to following people, but she didn’t notice them  anyway.
“She stops… Quick, call the others and tell them where we are!”
Kian did as he was told and a few minutes later they saw the other
lads coming around the corner. “Nix look, that’s her isn’t it?”
“Yeah, it sure is… thanks a lot guys! I guess I just have to go up
there and talk to her, right? Yeah, that’s what I’ll do… talk to her…
that’s okay, no problem… I’m off now…” Nicky was totally nervous
and the other lads couldn’t help but laugh at him as he slowly made
his way to Becky.
Becky stood there looking at some dresses in the shop window
when she heard someone approaching her from behind. She froze
for a few seconds but then she slowly turned around, expecting to
see James there. But to her surprise she saw Nicky walking
towards her, he looked a bit worried. ‘What’s he doing here?’ she
thought to herself, and even though she really didn’t want, she
could feel her heart skip a beat as he came closer.
“Hi… Errmm, I don’t know if you remember me… I’m Nicky… from  ‘The Swan’…”
“Of course I remember you…” she said nervously.
“Look, I really wanna apologise… I didn’t mean to upset you, that
night. I just wanted to make sure you were all right.”
“Don’t apologise, I’m the one who’s sorry. It was just that…” her
voice trailed off and she looked down at her feet and she felt tears
burning under her eye lids.
“It’s okay, I understand if you don’t wanna tell me. After all we don’t
know each other, but I was hoping maybe, I mean only if you want
to, we could get to know each other a little better…” Becky looked
up and without thinking she said:
“Yeah, that would be nice.” What was she saying? Here she
accepted a date with this man, who she didn’t know, and she didn’t
even know if she was ready to date again. What if he was just like
James? What if he hurt her like he did? What if he would leave her
too, like everyone else she’s ever loved?
“Really? That’s great! Maybe we could go out for dinner tonight? I
can pick you up around 7pm.”
“Yeah, that sounds good. But do you mind if we meet there
instead? I mean, errmm, if that’s okay…?” Nicky looked into her
eyes, but there was no spark in them whatsoever. ‘Someone or
something really hurt this girl’ he thought to himself. He had just
met this girl but he felt his heart break in two when he saw the pain
in her eyes, he just wanted to take her in his arms and tell her
nothing would hurt her ever again.
“Sure, of course, no problem! Do you like Chinese?” She nodded,
“we can meet at that new Chinese restaurant over there.” he said
and pointed to a place down the road.
“Sounds great. I’ll see you then.” Becky said, gave him a weak
smile and started walking to her apartment with only one thought in
her head: ‘What am I doing?'
