My personal experience with YFU is extreamly good. When I first thourght about becoming an exchangestudent I went to meetings with a couple diffrent org. The thing that made me choose YFU was that none of the other org. gave me a feeling that thay wanted me in their org. because they liked what they were doing, more than just making money. I can`t say anything about YFU other places in the world, but YFU-Denmark is like one big family. Everybody is helping you to get the best out what in 99.9% of the times are going tro be the best year in your live.

Her is something about my friends around the world. Most of them is with YFU, the rest are not that "lucky".This site is updated all the time so come back. If I forgot
you then write.

I bet all of you how it is to "talk" to someone where it is impossible to get word through to her/him because they talk so fast. Well, Anne is a just like that, she talks and talks all the time. Don't take it the wrong way because she is fun to talk to, mostly because she mixes Danish and English together all the time. She is really one of those kind of people that you can talk to for ever, and still have a interesting conversation. I seriously think that she forgot to speak Danish :) She is 19 years OLD and lives in Indiana (Anderson). She changed hostfamily once, because...I don't know, but know it seems like she have a lot of fun up there. Back in Denmark, she lives in a little town close to Silkeborg. I believe that I'm going to see her not so far after our return to Denmark, because she is having some kind of party, and who would say no to go to a party with a girl like that?....no me that's for sure :)

Anne Teglhus Simonsen,
Denmark

Ok this is how a Brazilian looks.....
No, Rodrigo is a lot of fun, even though we have a lot of "fights" because he keep on thinking that he can beat me even though I beat him so many times. He lives with me right now, but is going to another school. (I don't like his school because they beat our soccer team) He lives in Manaus in northen Brazil. If everything goes after the plan we are going to be roommates on the Eastcoast Trip. And have a lot of fun together there. He is also going to buy me all I can drink on the trip because it is his birthday while we are in New York, heehe

One Beer in Portuguese = Uma Cerveja     Always an important thing to know, :)

Hey this is my new friend from Chile.
He just came from Santiago yesterday (1/19/00) and now he is here.... It is hard to write about someone that I hartly know that well, but Ivan sounds like a guy that could easily become a member of the YFUparty Crew. Back in Chile he used his time playing soccer, drinking and haunting down beautiful girls. VERY similar to what we do in Denmark, or what other people do, not me........
Not because I'm "ever" going to use this but Ivan thourght me how to say "Chick" in spanish. In spanish you would say:" She is Minas", and if she was Very beautiful then you would say that:" She was Medias Minas", then you know that guys. And if you are deing, and you are in a spanish talking country you ask for:"un copete", (1 beer) that could save your life one day if you knew that, so write it down and carry it with you where ever you go, just a good advice, from two exchange students in Lubbock, Texas.

Ivan Ramiez, Chile.

Katrin and I met at our school (Coronado High School) at the beginning of the school-year. Katrin comes from Germany, and is one of the very few Germans that I like (Danes and Germans are a bad mixture). She went early back because she was homesick, which she now think was a god decision. She lives in the town of Troisdorf (80.000), together with her mom, dad, and to younger siblings. She uses her time on school, tennis, dancing, skiing, music, friends and her boyfriend ( What a pity ), all the things a normal teenager do. She is doing very well back in Germany but i still think shut have stayed, because now I`m going to miss her so much.

Katrin Wilkes, Germany

Yasu and I lived together for more than two months, because the Field Manager (my hostmom) couldn`t find a permanent hostfamily for him. It was a lot of fun during those two months, and I really miss him around the house, now he got his own family. (Oct. 1999). Back in Japan, Yasu lives close to Hiroshima, the place USA nuked. When I first met him I thourght that he was a very silent boy, but as I got to know him better i found that he was everything but silent. Yasu told me that Japanese people often are so shy that they have a hard time being friendly. But once you are friends with a Japanese kid, you got yourself a lifetime friend. I believe that, and I dream that one day I get the option to visit him and his friends/family in a world so diffrent from the one I know now.

Yasuhito Arimoto, Japan

What can I say, he a HOMEBOY. Even though we haven`t seen much of each other, we became very good friends on the "short" flight from Denmark to Chicago. We had a lot of fun sharing a hotel-room in Chicago, even though Henrik droped a glass on the bathroom floor just before I was going to take a bath(and he had allready taken his). On the fleight he made all the boys on the plane jaloyx, because he showed some pictures of his new "sister". Very nice on paper, but as it later turned out she was everything but a nice person so...HAHA
Like me he is VERY proud of being Danish. But he he also like me love to travel, and see diffrent cultures/girls which we are not use to in Denmark.Well otherwise I know that he is doing pretty good in Denver, Colorado. I might visit him, but if I don't I know that we are going to have a lot of fun parties together, when we come back to Denmark (lets drink on that, shall we??????)

Henrik Jensen,
Denmark

Oh yeah. I don`t think that he could have endet up any better place than Denver because his big pasion is skiing. I`m you have to like it if you carry your skiies all the way from Denmark, right!!

Dothe is in one way a typical Dane and in another way so diffrent. I don`t know if is that big a deal in USA, but in Denmark we "sometimes" make fun of blond girls. What I mean is that if you believe that blond people are stupid then you should meet Dorthe, she is an exception. She is/was part of a band in Denmark, and she loves to workout (I mean she run in the morning before school, I would never do that, even if I weighed 100 punds to much). She lives just north of Dallas, Texas in Grapevinen together with her hostsister(Emily or the Whiner) and the rest of their family. When I visited them in November I met Emily. She is probadly the one person that talks as much as I do, all the time. We had a great time, and I saw a lot of things I would not have seen if if wasn`t for Em. Yes one more thing, Emily drive like every other American girl I have been driving with LIKE A MAD "WOMAN"

Dorthe Krog and Emily Meinen.
Denmark/USA, Dallas

This is how a Martian looks!! Look good, and be ready for the invasion when the ultimade party freak comes to town. Troels is the only one on this page I knew before I came to America. We where in the same region back in Denmark. We had so much fun at the orientations, the ones that are going to prepare us fore our new lives in another country. Right now he lives in LA, In California, because he changed host family. He lives with tre siblings and in the second richest nieghboor hod in the US. He is supposed to be a very good basketball player, but I believe that it can be discussed....... KNOW HE IS DEFFENTLY GOING TO KILL ME, IF IT WASN'T BECAUSE I'M BIGGER THAN HIM. He was supposed to join me and Dorthe on a big trip to the "Eastcost", but like Henrik and Mads he was denied access by YFU because he is from another state. That was stupid because it would have been the perfect ending on this year for the all of us, but I guess that Dorthe and I have to have all the fun alone.....We will survive, I "hope". He is like a lot of the other guys from YFU a real HOMEBOY!!!

Troels Jepsen, Denmark.

Sorry, he escaped from Denmark August 11th, an dhe probably won`t be contained until July 6th (the day we all leave The States.) Jesper lives in Missouri, and he's hostdad is a cop, so he probably have "a lot fun". Back in Denmark he is a well known DJ. And is part of a traveling Nightclub. On the picture you see him with headphones. I`m starting to believe that he needs them around his neck to suvive. Jesper fills out the criteria to be an exchange student with a 100. He is SO fun, SO crazy, and SO up to partying, not because I know more about being an exchange student than the others but I think that is what it takes, if you are going to handle a year away fom all the people you love. If you think otherwise write. He is deffently part of the group of exchnge students that I`m going to spent a lot of time with when I come back to Denmark that is for sure. Jesper Olesen,

Trine and I were sitting allmost next to eachother in the plain to the US, so we had a lot of fun even though I didn`t like the gilrs magazines she offered me to borrow if I was bored. Trine is now close to Minneapolis, Minnesota. She came from what she calls the most boring place in Denmark (probadly just because there were no nice guys, guys like the once in YFU, I mean, just see the pictures on this side.) She was awarded one of the most beautifull girls on her school back in Denmark, which I understand. If you are a guy from America then look good on her hair. I don`t kno why there are so few girls in the US with short hair. I`m crazy with short hair, admitted. On my High School there are 2500 students and not more than ten girls with short hair such a shame. Like me Trine got a smaller sibling on 12 years. That is not always a lot of fun but in the long term I love my sister. Trine is the only Danish student I know that have changed hostfamily, because the 1st one accused her for some stupid things. But she seems to have a good time now and what is more important than that?

Trine Berthelsen, Demark.
