CASCA: THE MOVIE | |||||||
Moves have been made since around the year 2000 to make a Casca movie. Things got serious in 2002 when experienced screenwriters Tom Engleman and Dean Koontz got involved (they were behind the writing for Tom Cruise's "The Last Samurai" for example), but up to the summer of 2005 nothing had materialised. The current situation is that the project has been revived with the 2002 script being sent round the movie world to try to raise interest. Since the release of Paul Dengelegi's "Defiant" in 2001 things went awry, with Dengelegi's contract not being renewed, Gary Sizemore's untimely death and an interregnum in the writing of a new book. Copious inquiries throughout the spring of 2005 revealed the possibility of two new Casca stories from two different sources, one of which was the third and final offering from Paul Dengelegi called "The Outcast", set in the early part of the 19th century, but this was only going to be being released in audio format. It was subsequently withdrawn due to contractural difficulties in October 2005. The other story, "The AntiChrist", was not considered as a book but could form part of the new Casca movie if the original script is accepted. Then in August 2007 news broke about a possibility of a film moving closer with the hiring of Mike France, one of hollywood's top screenwriters.
