Getting closer to the major pass of this trek. I have to admit, trekking in Nepal was no where near as fullfilling as biking to Everest Basecamp in Tibet. You just don't get the amazing scenery that I was accustomed to in Tibet.

5 days into the trek. On the very first day, I was flying by everyone. On the second day, I could hardly moved my legs. And it stayed that way for over a week.

Here I am, at Thorong La pass. At over 5400M, this is the highest I've ever been. Actually, I attempted this pass the day before. The day started with not too much problem. Set off at around 6:00AM. It was tough going. But I experienced similiar feeling while I was biking in Tibet. Not 20 minutes into the trek, I was really suffering. I told my partner to go ahead and I would catch up later on. I was getting so tired that I decided to sit. That's when everything went to hell. As soon as I sat down, the whole world just started spinning on me. Other trekkers came off and do the usual thing(Ok, how many fingers do I have showing? What's your name? etc....). And I answer all the question correctly. I guess I wasn't completely out of it, but I was starting to get there. So I sent them away as well. I lay there for another 30 minutes, finally I gathered all my strength and head back down to Phedi and slept the whole day. The next day(the day this pic was taken) was a cakewalk for me. I guess I just needed that extra day to acclimitized. Everyone was huffing and puffing, I didn't even break a sweat. There was some pretty funny stories when we arrived at the next village. 2 of our friends that was from New Zealand bought these supposely hiking boots. There were more like street shoes that looks like hiking boots. Those boots had no traction what so ever in snow, ice or in the cold. And you could die if you slipped in certain places in this pass. So after falling I don't know how many times. They had enough. One guy put on a pair of what seems to be cloth slippers with rubber sole. And the other guy somehow wrapped a couple of his socks to the sole of his boots. They were not doing too good when we finally met them at the village.

Another top ten moutain in the world. Forgot the name again. With the big pass over, most of it now is trekking down hill on the dry side of this trek. Which is also the side where you will find the best chocolate cake in Nepal. I started this trek counterclockwise. And it was not possible to take a shower till you get to Manang(I think). This is the only village along the trek that has an airport. I paid a bit more money to get a better hotel so that I can take a shower. Man it fell so good!!!!

Annapurna Sanctuary Trek, that's the Annapurna mountain. It's almost the end of the trek.

Another pic of Annapurna.
