Graveyard of The Unanswered
OK, so maybe we don't know everything.
Here are a few that "got away from
us ..."
Unsolved questions
I was wondering if you would possibly know the name of a song that has the lyrics, “I guess we're not birds of a feather, isn't it lonely together.”
All I can recall (apart from it being great) is the chorus ending with the line "99, ocean drive" before a bass-driven middle section, and that it was very bouncy. Can you help?
I am trying to track Clarence Collins, one of the original Imperials in Little Anthony's group. I heard that he's gone again from the Imperials and was wondering if you know where he is.
Which band performed the early 1980s (or late 70s) pop song, “Baby, It’s You”? It repeated the chorus, “Baby, it's you ...” many, many times ... the film clip had a guy with no shirts, pants-suspenders and a bow tie at a keyboard.
There's a record I used to have from about 25-30 years ago. It is a Christmas record for kids. All I remember are two songs. The first one is "Who's That Up on Our Roof?" and the other is “Morris the Moose.”
I'm trying to find the name of a band that had a hit in 1984 with a
song called “Rain.” ("Don't you go out in the rain/don't go out in the
pouring rain"). I believe the band was from Australia and their name began
with the letter Z. (No, not Fisher Z)
Recaptured Youth
Looking for information on a band called Dragon (I think) circa mid-to late-'80s. I think they were part of the New Romantic/New Wave genre that spawned Spandau Ballet, Wire Train and a slew of similar bands. Can you guys give me any information? Been looking for years as a way to reclaim my forgotten youth.
I have a live tape of a band called Steel Mill from August 1970 (Springsteen's early band.) On it they perform an instrumental which I am told is called “KT 88.” I want to find the original of this but have no idea who did it or when. Given the band, hard rock, blues or surfer instrumentals are best bets, but I don't know where to start. Can't exactly search for the lyrics and the band tended to blast everything Cream-style so who knows how much relation to the original this performance bears. Any idea who did "KT 88" and where I can find it now?
What is the title and artist of the dance song on the show “Taxi” that played when Alex was strutting his stuff with the tall guy in the gay bar (he had gone to the bar to support Tony who was trying to explain he wasn't gay to a guy who had fallen in love with him, when a giant guy asked Alex for a dance). It was one of the funniest sitcom scenes ever! The episode originally aired in 1980, so it would be a disco song from that year or earlier. I haven't seen that episode in a while or I'd give you some of the lyrics, I hope you guys know what song I'm talking about, you'd be the greatest song geniuses in the world if you could give me info on it. Thanks!
This is kind of an off-the-wall question for you, but I was wondering if you could tell me where I might be able to find a shirt like the dragon one Rob Thomas wore in the video for Santana’s "Smooth"?
You sure the festival wasn't in your mind?
I am trying to find info on a music festival that took place a couple years before Woodstock, somewhere in upstate New York. Unfortunately, I know neither the name of the festival, nor the exact year.
I'm searching for the words to a song I thought was called "Niagara Honeymoon Song" but may in fact simply be called "Niagara Falls." The reference I have for the former is from the 1940s (I think). Surely the words must be out there somewhere.
Is there a story and "translation" of the lyrics to the 60's novelty
song, "Tie Me Kangaroo Down, Sport?"
I know this doesn't quite count as pop, but I can't find the answer anywhere. Could you tell me who wrote the ditty "Look for the Union Label," or at least what year it was written?
