Here's a look at some of the past
questions and answers
we've spun out at PopQuestions.com
Who sang the song that has "how do you afford your rock and roll lifestyle" in it? I heard it on MTV's “Daria” a while back. Can you send me the lyrics? (It’s "Rock and Roll Lifestyle," and the version you heard was by CAKE. It's a remake of a LOU REED song from the 1970s.)
I was hoping someone could tell me whether the HOLLIES toured the U.S. and/or Canada during late 1976 through mid-1977. (The Hollies were definitely on tour at that time, though not necessarily in the U.S. and Canada. They embarked on a 14-date UK tour in March 1976, but all those dates were strictly in Britain. In April of the following year, they released a live record but the material was all recorded in New Zealand.)
We are arguing about a song that has the line “I can’t live if living is without you ...” I say it’s an old song and my friend disagrees. (The song you're talking about is called "Without You" and was performed by an artist who went by the name NILSSON -- sometimes called Harry Nilsson (born Harry Edward Nelson III). Back in 1972, that song was No. 1 on the Billboard pop charts for four weeks and No. 1 on the Adult Contemporary charts for five weeks. It was written by two members of BADFINGER, and even featured GARY WRIGHT (he did "Dreamweaver") on piano. Nilsson also performed the original version of "Everybody's Talkin'," "Me and My Arrow," and the very annoying song, "Coconut." Died in 1994.)
I’m trying to find the ERIC CLAPTON album that has the song with the phrase “sneakin’ Sally down the alley” but I can’t. Any ideas? ("Sneakin' Sally Through the Alley" was made popular by ROBERT PALMER, not Clapton. It's on Palmer's 1974 album of the same name, "Sneakin' Sally Through the Alley," and on a number of his greatest hits compilations, such as "Addictions, Part II" and his Millennium Masters set. We couldn't find any documentation that Clapton ever recorded it.)
I’m trying to find some information on a certain performer in TINA TURNER’S touring band. His name is TIMMY CAPPELLO, and I remember first seeing him on a HBO Tina Turner concert special, around the Private Dancer tour/album. He plays several different instruments, including tenor sax, keyboards, percussion and harmonica. I don't know if he still plays with her band or not, but I do know that he was with her on her Wildest Dreams tour. I was wondering, what is he up to now and does he have his own band, record, Web site, etc. Even though he isn't a "star" he has always been, in my opinion, the stand out performer in Tina Turner's band. (Timmy Cappello has most recently been touring with RINGO STARR ... check out http://www.ringotour.com/cappello.htm)
Who sang the song "Deeper and Deeper" in the movie, “Poison Ivy 2”? (It’s "Deeper" by SIMONE SHOOK. She won the Lillith Fair talent competition, by the way.)
I need this for a trivia contest .... JOE WALSH joined the EAGLES on what album? (“Hotel California.” Interestingly, it was reportedly DAN FOGELBERG, not Walsh, who was first in line to join the Eagles but Fogelberg reportedly decided against it because he thought they were about to break up.)
I have three for you guys. Which male vocalist sang "24 Hours From Tulsa”? Who sang “Please. Mr. Custer”? And what was on the B side of HAYLEY MILLS’ recording of “Let’s Get Together”? (Greedy little devil aren’t you? OK, GENE PITNEY did "24 Hours to Tulsa." LARRY VERNE did "Please, Mr. Custer." And it took us a while, but we found out that “Cobbler, Cobbler” was on the flip of “Let’s Get Together.”)
I am in a trivia contest in one of the AOL chat rooms. This week’s challenge is titled "I want my MTV" and I’m stuck on a couple questions. I have been searching the web for hours and am having no luck. Here goes: What rapper was the first to receive the Vanguard award from MTV? (Answer: LL COOL J in 1997.) And RIGHT SAID FRED'S song, “I’m Too Sexy” was used in the advertisement for what car? (Answer: Toyota Camry.)
My friend and I are fighting over who did “Turn Around Look at Me” first? I say it was the VOGUES and he says it was JOHNNY MATHIS. He insists he’s right. (There's no record that Johnny Mathis ever recorded it. The Vogues released it in December 1965, though it peaked on the chart shortly afterward in 1966. Johnny Mathis' hits, except for the last two which came much later, were pretty much done by 1963. So IF he ever recorded it, it was probably before that. But we're not convinced he ever did. It certainly never charted, doesn't show up on any discographies. Perhaps your friend is mistakenly thinking about another Johnny Mathis song with similar lyrics, ("Misty"), which goes, "Look at me ... ")
I need the top five songs of 1991 for a homework assignment. Please help me! (U.S. pop hits, according to Billboard, were, in order: “(Everything I Do) I Do It For You," BRYAN ADAMS; “Black or White,” MICHAEL JACKSON; “Rush, Rush,” by PPAULA ABDUL; “Emotions,” MARIAH CAREY; “Gonna Make You Sweat (Everybody Dance Now),” C&C MUSIC FACTORY.)
I’m a school teacher and could use some song notes about “Side by Side” by HARRY WOODS for a music program we are doing. (“Side by Side," was written by Tin Pan Alley lyricist Harry Woods, who composed a string of hits during the 1920s and 1930s. Even though he was known as a drinker and a fighter, Woods penned such songs as "A Little Kiss Each Morning" (1929) and "Try a Little Tenderness" (1932). He also wrote several million-sellers, including "When the Red Red Robin Comes Bobbing Along" (1926), "I'm Looking Over a 4-Leaf Clover" and "Side By Side," both written in 1927. "Side By Side" was originally recorded by 1920s bandleader Paul Whiteman. "Side by Side" had another life later with a revival by Kay Starr in 1953. Woods also wrote tunes that were adopted by entertainers as theme songs, including RUDY VALLEE's "Heigh Ho, Everybody, Heigh Ho" and KATE SMITH's "When the Moon Comes Over the Mountain.")
Who's second to ELVIS PRESLEY in albums that charted on Billboard Top 200? (ELTON JOHN)
Who recorded the song, "Feel Like Makin' Love"? At least I think that is the name of the song ... from the 70s, I believe. I think it was a rock group with Southern roots. Some of the lyrics are "Darlin', when I think about you, I think about looooooove." Hope you can help me out! ("Feel Like Makin' Love," BAD COMPANY.)
Two weekends ago, I was on Venice Beach (California) and saw a bunch of people pounding drums. There were 20-30 people playing all sorts of percussion insturments all to the same infectionus beat. Surrounding the drummers were 200 or so onlookers. I'm told this is the VENICE DRUM CIRCLE. What can you tell about it? (Drum circles are actually held all over the world. Places as diverse as San Luis Obispo, Calif., and Lisbon, Portugal. A Web site at www.drumcircle.org has a full menu of information on drum circles, including maps and contact names and numbers, as well as special "drum circle etiquette." As for the Venice Drum Circle, the first celebration out at the beach apparently was a tribute to the GRATEFUL DEAD's JERRY GARCIA.)
Who recorded the song "Take the Long Way Home"? When I was 16, we literally wore out this tape and now I can’t remember the name of the group. ("Take the Long Way Home" was performed by SUPERTRAMP.)
Please tell me who sings "Amy, what you gonna do, I know I could stay with you ... " (It’s called "Amie" -- note the weird spelling -- and was sung by PURE PRAIRIE LEAGUE. It charted almost exactly 25 years ago ... April 1975. The band also did "Let Me Love You Tonight.")
What band was VINCE GILL with before his solo career? Was it Pure Prairie League? (Yes. Gill was the lead singer of Pure Prairie League, but he did not join the band until 1979 -- after the band had already logged most of its Top 40 hits. PPL had only one with him, called "I'm Almost Ready." As for PPL's biggest hits, like "Amie," CRAIG FULLER was their lead singer then. Vince Gill was also a member of Mountain Smoke, a band that opened for Pure Prairie League in the early 1970s.)
I'm looking for the artist who performed an instrumental version of "Knights in White Satin" ("Knights in White Satin," was performed by the instrumentalist Giorgio Moroder, who was known for his movie soundtracks and his disco work with Donna Summer.)
A friend and I are arguing about the lyrics to a FRANKIE VALLI song. In “My Eyes Adored You,” he says the lyrics refer to Barnegat Bridge, and I say it’s Bonnecutt Bridge. Who’s right? And where’s he from anyway? (“My Eyes Adored You” indeed mentions Barnegat Bridge and Bay. We sent the lyrics back as proof. Frankie Valli, who was born Frank Castelluccio, is from Newark, N.J.)
What was the No. 1 song on the U.S. pop charts for the year 1968? ("Hey Jude" by the BEATLES.)
I just heard an awesome song on the radio called “The Way It Is.” I have no idea who sings it. I think the artist might be a Chris something. I'm not sure. And there is a lot of wicked piano stuff in the song. If you could tell me who sings the song, I'd be soooo happy!!! (The song you're talking about is called "The Way It Is," and was performed by a Bruce something -- BRUCE HORNSBY AND THE RANGE, released in 1986 and a No. 1 song in October of that year. It's cowritten by his brother, a lawyer.)
I have a steak dinner riding on this one. BUDDY HOLLY AND THE CRICKETS were the "in-studio back-up band" on which EVERLY BROTHERS’ Top 10 hit? (The Crickets backed up the Everly Brothers on "('Til) I Kissed You," which charted in the Top 10 in August 1959. But Buddy Holly was not part of that. He died in the airplane crash in February of that year. So, yeah, the Crickets backed the Everlys on that tune, but Buddy Holly was not there. SONNY CURTIS, the guitarist from Buddy Holly's band, often played with the Everly Brothers. He even wrote one of their hits, "Walk Right Back" (1961). In 1960, the Crickets toured briefly with the Everlys. Interestingly, Sonny Curtis also wrote the "Theme to the 'Mary Tyler Moore Show,'" the song that starts, "Who can turn the world on with her smile ..." as well as "I Fought The Law," by the BOBBY FULLER FOUR. ... <flash forward> Sometimes we get a nice note in return. “Thank you so much for the answer to my quesion. I'll have porterhouse with bernaise sauce, baked potato and salad and a nice red wine for you guys. Thanks again.)
OK, what song is sampled in the pop/summertime anthem "Steal My Sunshine" by LEN? ("Steal My Sunshine," contains samples from "More, More, More" by THE ANDREA TRUE CONNECTION. ... Anthem’s a little much though, isn’t it?)
Could you tell me the name of the song that STEVIE NICKS duets on with either TOM PETTY or DON HENLEY. And if you could tell me the title of the FRANK SINATRA song that started with "It's a quarter to 3 and there's nobody here but ...” (Stevie Nicks sings duets with both Don Henley AND Tom Petty. She did "Leather and Lace" with Henley and "Stop Draggin' My Heart Around" with Petty. The Sinatra song is called "One For My Baby." We sent the lyrics.)
I have a bit of 1960s classic rock playing in my memory but I can't remember the artist or title. It was an electric guitar instrumental (no lyrics) that started off with a very unique intro consisting of the sound of a motorcycle being kick-started. This music was being played on rock stations (and was apparently popular) sometime during (I'm guessing) 1967-1972. I don't think there were that many rock guitar instrumentals of that time, and especially unique was the intro motorcycle sound. Can you help identify title or artist? (We think it's called "Blue's Theme" a.k.a. "Theme from The Wild Angels" by DAVIE ALLAN AND THE ARROWS. It got to No. 37 on the Billboard charts in 1967 and was from the Peter Fonda biker flick. It has a pretty catchy fuzz-tone guitar riff. <flash forward> ... Return note: “You guys are musical geniuses. You're absolutely correct - it was "Blue's Theme" I was looking for. As soon as you said it, it sounded right. I did some quick checking and found a couple of samples on the Web and confirmed that it was what I was looking for.)
What was the 1960s-70s group that had (I think) DAVID CLAYTON-THOMAS as lead singer? They sounded a lot like CHICAGO and were the same size. One of their tunes was "I'm Your Vehicle" (Actually, Clayton-Thomas was lead singer of BLOOD, SWEAT AND TEARS. Even though the vocalist on "Vehicle" sounds like Clayton-Thomas, that song is done by THE IDES OF MARCH.)
I need to settle something with a friend. What old movie does the song "White Christmas" appear in? I say it is the movie by the same title, "White Christmas," by IRVING BERLIN with BING CROSBY, DANNY KAYE, ROSEMARY CLOONEY, and VERA ALLEN. He says it is something I've never heard of. Am I right? (Sorry. Sounds like what you have is a “treasury” or compilation. The movie that made the Bing Crosby song popular was “Holiday Inn.”)
My husband and I just attended a GUESS WHO concert, and it got us thinking. In the 1950s or ‘60s there was a famous band that had a hit every time they released an album. The story goes that they thought their songs were hits simply because of their name, so they released an album under a fictitious name to see if it would be a hit. My husband thinks it was the FOUR SEASONS who released an album under the name of The Guess Who; I think it was JEFFERSON AIRPLANE who released an album under another name (something like the Guess Who or The Who or something like that). Can you help? It's driving us both crazy! (The situation came up in 1965-1967. It was the Four Seasons who pulled the stunt, but the name they selected was The Wonder Who, not the Guess Who as you mentioned. They put out no original albums with that title, but they did release four singles (all hits), including Bob Dylan's "Don't Think Twice, It's All Right.")
I need to know the name of a song. It is by a male vocalist with an accent. Only lines I can think of are "think, think, think" followed by a sax solo; " ... at night, when all the world's asleep,” and then “Please tell me who I am, who I am, who I am." A lot of other words of the song are adjectives like “illogical,” “criminal,” and other "-al" words. It really was a great song I remember from my childhood and is never played on the radio. Can you help? I have been going nuts over this song for years! (It’s "The Logical Song," by SUPERTRAMP, 1979 -- we even sent back the lyrics.)
I am trying to find out name and singer of a song I first heard in 1998, when I lived in Florida. Now I live in Brazil and heard it again in a chapter of a TV series called “Dawson's Creek.” Some of the lyrics are “cause we belong together ... trappings of my mind ... I'll be your crying shoulder ... suicide ... and I'll be better when I'm older.” The singer is male and has a bit of a raucous voice. I want to buy the CD. (It’s "I'll Be," by EDWIN MC CAIN, available on his 1998 album, "Misguided Roses.")
Who is the original chanteuse of "Stormy Weather" -- LENA HORNE or JUDY GARLAND? Whose version is more famous? Whose is better? (It was recorded by Horne in the early 1940s, then by Judy Garland a few years later. Garland didn't really begin recording until the late 1940s when Horne was already established. The Horne version is more famous because she made the song popular before Garland ever opened her mouth. And her version is probably better too, because Garland doesn't have the right kind of voice for it. For the best female vocal versions, try SARAH VAUGHAN and ELLA FITZGERALD.)
Which superstar began her career singing for the STONE PONIES? (It was LINDA RONSTADT.)
Help me answer this trivia question! This was VAN HALEN's first No. 1 song: (A) Pretty Woman (B) Runnin’ With The Devil (C) And The Cradle Will Rock (D) Jump. So far, I have narrowed it down to B and C but I'm not sure. (The answer is actually "Jump." It was Number One for five weeks in 1984. None of the other songs even made it to Number One. In fact, it's Van Halen's only Number One single.)
Can you tell me the female artist who sang "Just Call Me Angel" around the early 1980s? (It was "Angel of the Morning" by JUICE NEWTON, 1981.)
Please tell me who recorded “Mustang Sally”? If there is more than one artist list them in order please. ("Mustang Sally" has had a lot of life over the years. Wilson Pickett had a Top 40 hit with it in 1966. Another great version is from the movie, "The Commitments," in 1991, performed by the movie band of the same name. Others who did the song include SANDY NELSON, PAUL REVERE AND THE RAIDERS, MAGIC SLIM, BUDDY GUY, the COASTERS, the SINGING EXPRESS, the OUTCASTS, the KINGSMEN, the BREEZE BAND, RUFUS THOMAS, SNOOKS EAGLIN, the SILVER APPLES, MACK RICE, JOHN CLARK, and GUITAR PETE)
I’ve got one of those “bugging me for days” questions. The song is "Mary Moon." The chorus goes like this: “Mary Moo-oo-oon, She's a vegetarian. Mary Moon will outlive all the Septuagenarians.” Who did this song? (It’s "New Age Girl” by a band named DEADEYE DICK, 1994. We sent the lyrics -- all in only 40 minutes!)
Which artist wrote a song on Vietnam called “Eve of Destruction”? We also need the lyrics. ("Eve of Destruction," was written by P.F. SLOAN and performed by BARRY MC GUIRE. Lyrics sent.)
Who sings "When Can I See You Again"? (BABYFACE)
What singer/group sang the original version of SUGAR RAY's "Someday"? I'm sure I've heard that song before. ("Someday” was actually written by Sugar Ray with assistance from their producer, DAVID KAHANE. It sounds familiar for a good reason: The tune -- most of the refrain -- is a knockoff of a 1970s song called "Suavecito" by MALO, which was a fairly big hit. The chord progression is exactly the same too. “Suavecito” is a better song to boot.)
Please tell me who did the song “Boogie Fever.” (THE SYLVERS)
Could you please be so kind as to tell me who sings the song with the refrain: “I believe in miracles, since you came along, you sexy thing.”? ("You Sexy Thing," was performed by HOT CHOCOLATE in 1975. Made it all the way to No. 3 on U.S. pop chart.)
Who first recorded and sang "Can't Take My Eyes Off Of You”? ("Can't Take My Eyes Off You," was first made popular by FRANKIE VALLI in 1967.)
Who sang the song, "The Cheater"? The lyrics go, "Make way for the cheater. make way for the poor-hearted clown." (BOB KUBAN AND THE IN-MEN ... "Look out for the Cheater ... make way for the fool-hearted clown ... look out for the Cheater ... he's gonna build you up just to let you down ..." -- written by JOHN KRENSKI.)
Please let me know what year GEORGE THOROGOOD did the songs “I Drink Alone” and “Bad to the Bone.” (1985, 1982)
Settle an argument. Some of us say IKE 7 TINA TURNER did “Proud Mary” first, and some say CCR did it first. Well? (JOHN FOGERTY of Creedence Clearwater Revival wrote the song, so they figure to have done it first ... and they did, in 1969. Ike and Tina did it almost exactly two years later, in 1971)
While watching “Rock and Roll Jeopardy,” the question came up about a song that begins with the letter X ... other than “Xanadu,” are there any? (How about “X-Ray Blues” by RAY CHARLES and “X-Offender” by BLONDIE?)
Who sang the song, "Fire," approximately 1967-1970? (CRAZY WORLD OF ARTHUR BROWN, 1968. Of course, there's also "Fire" by the OHIO PLAYERS, but that was in 1975.)
Can you tell me when the song "Put a Nickel In" made popular by TERESA BREWER and found on a 1958 "Music, Music, Music" album of hers was originally written? (The song is called "Music! Music! Music! (Put Another Nickel In)" and was written by STEPHEN WEISS in 1950.)
Do you know of a country-western song from pre-1980 with more than a dozen words in the title? A friend asked me this as a trivia question. I've been looking for it for over a week now. (We ventured that it might be “I’d Rather Have a Bottle in Front of Me Than a Frontal Lobotomy,” but we never heard back to see whether this was the song the friend had in mind.) <flash forward> ... Someone emailed another good suggestion ... "I'm a Cranky Old Yank in my Clanky Old Tank on the Streets of Yokahama with my Honolulu Mama, Singing Those Neato, Beato, Flat on my Feeto Blues.” Thanks! :) )
When was the song “Tea for Two” written? I have a little teapot that sings that song. ("Tea for Two," was written in 1925 with words by IRVING CAESAR and music by VINCENT YOUMANS.)
My mom and I are arguing about the song, "Don't Rain on My Parade." It is on the "American Beauty" soundtrack by a guy, and my mom says that it was sung by BARBRA STREISAND. Can you tell us who the ORIGINAL artist of thie song is? (Mom's right. It's an old MERRILL-STYNE tune from "Funny Girl," (1964) and was sung by Streisand.)
Who wrote "I Want Candy"? BOW WOW WOW recorded it in '82, but i believe it was written earlier. (Much earlier ... the STRANGELOVES did it in 1965, and the tune was written by Feldman-Goldstein-Gottehrer, with BERT BERNS producing.)
Who was the first band to sing "Gloria"? I know it was sung by both VAN MORRISON and the DOORS. (The song was written by Morrison. The band he was in at the time, Them, had a hit with the song in 1965-66, but another band, the SHADOWS OF KNIGHT, had an even bigger hit with it in 1966).
Recently I was asked who sang the song "Cowboys to Girls" in the 70's. I don't recall ever hearing that song. (It's an old Gamble/Huff tune, made a hit by the INTRUDERS in 1968).
Where did the band FLOCK OF SEAGULLS originate? Was it our hometown of Bellingham, Wash.? (Nope, not Bellingham, Wa. More like Liverpool, England.)
A song from the early 1970s has been stuck in my head for weeks. Don't know the title or much of the lyrics, only the tune. A small portion of the lyrics are "Ring, ring telephone ring," not even sure what portion of the song this phrase even shows up. Please help, as it is driving me nuts. (The song is called "Rings," and it was performed by CYMARRON, a male pop vocal group formed in Memphis. The song, written for a wedding, hit Number 17 on the Billboard pop chart in July 1971.)
Pieces of this song keep going through my head. The name of it (I think) is "(We've) Got To Get It On Again." It was recorded by the Adreesi (spelling?) Brothers in 1972 or 73. Please verify the title and provide correct spelling on the group and when it was released and how did it do on the charts. (It was the ADDRISI BROTHERS, who also wrote "Never My Love," and it hit Number 25 in 1972.)
Please could you tell me what was the Number One song on Feb. 6, 1960. We are trying to plan a 40th wedding anniversary party. ("Running Bear" by JOHNNY PRESTON).
I'm interested in finding out about a band called TREES. They were on CBS in the early 70's, as I've got a compilation LP "Fill your head with rock" that has the track "The Garden of Jane Delawney." Can you tell me anything else about the band? (We did, and found some Web sites.)
Could you please tell me the name of the artist who recorded "Walking in Memphis" and list all of the songs on that release. (It was MARC COHN, and we listed all the songs.)
My son is trying to write a paper on the 1970s’ tune "American Pie" performed by DON MC LEAN. We are having a argument on what the song was written about. (We settled it; the son was right ... the song is about the day BUDDY HOLLY died.)
Who recorded "Poison Ivy" and who did "Love Potion Number 9"? (The COASTERS, and the CLOVERS and the SEARCHERS)
Who recorded "Double Shot of My Baby's Love" circa 1966? (The SWINGIN' MEDALLIONS)
My wife and I were arguing on the way home from dinner about the 1980s song that I believe is titled "Rock the Casbah" but she thinks it was "Rock the Dance Floor." Neither one of us knows who the artist is. ("Rock the Casbah," THE CLASH)
Could you please tell me who sang the song "98.6"? (KEITH)
Please send us the title and artist whose song was No. 1 on the charts on Nov. 16, 1970. We need this for extra credit for a high school English class ASAP! (“I’ll Be There” by the JACKSON FIVE. Did we get it in time? What do you think?)
I have been looking for the lyrics to this song i think it is called "Turn Around" that talks about a child growing up. Something like ... Please tell me who sang the song "California Dreaming" that goes " ... all the leaves are brown and the sky is gray" ... was it THE MAMAS AND PAPAS? (Yes.)
Can you please tell me who wrote the song "Bury My Body" recorded by the Animals? It's listed as "Kooper." But who specifically? (AL KOOPER)
Who did the song "Brandy," back in the late '70s, early '80s. As in "Brandy, you're a fine girl, what a good wife you would be ... " (LOOKING GLASS, 1972. Later did “Jimmy Loves Mary Ann.”)

Could you please tell me what year "Bits and Pieces" by the DAVE CLARKE FIVE was released in the UK and what number it reached in the charts. (1964, UK No. 2)
I heard a song in Wal-Mart and can't remember the name . It is something like "this is no ordinary love ... no ordinary love," probably something simple but I also want to know who sang it ... help me. ("No Ordinary Love," SADE)
I've been listening to U2's greatest hits and b-sides ... they do a remake of a song called "Everlasting Love." Who did this originally? This has been driving me crazy. (A handful of people recorded it, but CARL CARLTONS's version in 1974 is the one that most people remember)
Who was JIM DICKINSON? (Longtime producer and pianist; we sent along a list of credits.)
Several people in our office want to know who sang the song "Dreamweaver." It was big around the mid-1970s. Do you know? (GARY WRIGHT)
Who did "My Maria" before BROOKS AND DUNN? (B.W. STEVENSON)
Who did "I Wanna Be a Cowboy" and who did "Mexican Radio"? (BOYS DON’T CRY, WALL OF VOODOO)
What's the origin behind the SHADOWS' song," The Rise and Fall of Flingel Bunt"? (Took forever but we finally found the answer. The world’s preeminent experts on the Shadows say the band often selected funny-sounding names at their whim, and this was basically one of them.)
I have two for ya! What rock group recorded a cover version of "I Heard It Through the Grapevine" in the 1970s on the album "Cosmo's Factory"? And when MARVIN GAYE signed with BERRY GORDY's Motown label he wasn't a singer ... how was he employed by Berry Gordy? (CREEDENCE CLEARWATER REVIVAL, and Gaye was a Motown drummer)
I need to know who sang the song, "MacArthur Park." You see my neighbor brought a cake over in the rain and it started this entire conversation. I say it was a man, she says it was a woman. (You're both right: RICHARD HARRIS, DONNA SUMMER)
PATTY SMYTH sang a song I believe was titled "Look What Love Has Done to Us." I have been repeatedly told it was on the soundtrack for the movie "Junior." However, I ordered that CD and it was mostly instrumental music composed by JAMES NEWTON HOWARD. And this song was not even on the CD. Driving me crazy. How and or where do I find this song. ("Look What Love Has Done," released by MCA, CD single only, and it’s not in print anymore.)
Can you help me find a song done in the '70s, I believe, titled "Timothy"? ("Timothy," by the BUOYS. Song was written about cannibalism, by RUPERT HOLMES, who later performed “Escape (The Pina Colada Song)” and “Him.” We delivered the lyrics.)
